Ajay, thanks for posting these great shots so quickly.
Favorite is the colorful peacock shot.
Congrats on the new lens!
Bokeh and colors look really nice.
Thanks for your analysis on the lens too.
Now I have to decide if I should complete the hat trick and get the third Zeiss 35.
Holy carp Ajay-C, if I was on the fence earlier about the Zeiss, it's all gone now. That is specifically what I was hoping to see. Fantastic stuff (imo). Thanks for sharing.

Isn't faster focus falloff considered a bad thing (perhaps you included those too in the name of honesty)?
We can see it as a feature that can be utilized for better or worse depending on the situation and the desired result.
Ajay and photoe, thank you for your continuous supply of images that truly demonstrate the very gentle rendering, which could be the most appealing I have seen from any 35 mm 1.4 lens for SLR cameras.

Photoe, this last one doesn't look to have haze at f1.4 in this web size shot. Is there any in the RAW at 100%? Do you notice more veiling haze (spherical aberation) at f1.4 with subjects which have a mix of RGB colors vs. subjects like this which are primarily green?
How much sharpening are you using for these shots?
I used Canons DPP for post processing. I tried it not to sharpen too much.
The settings in DPP were sharpening 5 (standard out of cam is 3) and unsharp mask 5 (standard out of cam is 3). The I step sharpened with RGB sharpness (100) from 4000 to 3000 and to 2000 pixel width. (Thanks for this kind of technique to samuli and denoir )
I myself was astonished about the little amount of haze in this picture, because it was shot in the sun at 1/4000s. I think it has something to do with the green of the leafs as I have another sun lit leaf picture which has this high contrast and little haze.
But now here is the whole truth a 100% crop with standard out of cam settings.
Well, well at pixelpeeping level, I don't mind that much. O/c it's important for huge prints, but as I see it it's easily cleaned up. Sharpness has always taken the back-seat with me, how it draws I find much more important.
thanks for the 100/100 though, It's always good to see the unpampered truth.

Thanks for the 100% crop and the sharpening/processing info.
Would be interesting to see a 100% crop of an object with all three main colors, RGB as you will get more haze with subjects like that as this lens focuses differently for different main RGB colors.
You could put a red object, a blue object and green object in the same focal plane and then see if it focuses equally on three subjects. Does this lens have a lot of focus shift?
To those that are shooting with the new ZE version, how easily are you able focus wide open? If you have tried both versions, is the focus throw longer or shorter? Thanks.

Thank you Wayne for this interesting challenge.
There is no focus shift as far as it is shot with my photographic configuration.
BUT while trying to make the test shots I got some problems to focus the red color. It was very hard to focus the red color at f1.4 Red is by a very little amount out of focus at f1.4 and f2, at f2.8 it is in sync with green and blue. I hope it is noticeable in this 100% crops. I shot this scene 5 times with changing order of the colors and readjustment of the scene and got always the same effect.
For comparison reasons I have also shot the Distagon 35/2 at f2 and MP 50/2 at f2 with the same setup.
It would be great if someone could verify my conclusion.
Focus throw is longer than that of 2/35ZE. Not as long as 100 MP's though.
I shot with the 2/35 ZE before I got rid of it.. To me they are different lenses, at least till f/2.8, after which I feel they have very similar rendition.
As this lens is no apochromat it has just two crossings, with red usually the colour that has the largest deviation from the plane of sharpness. Furthermore the crayon images are at close distance. The lens has floating elements to improve IQ over the whole focusing range. But only so much can be done within reasonable cost. And we should not forget the rest of the optical system, with the RGGB-sensor being the most important (double the number of green pixels than red or blue). There is more to capturing an image than the lens.
I have to say that these images are surprisingly beautiful. Thanks all! After engulfing everything on Lloyd Chambers site, I had a feeling that this lens would be great. But there were issues with several lens characteristics when looking at LCīs images. After rereading Dr Nasseīs article on bokeh, Iīm not too surprised since there is more to bokeh and OOF transition than LC covers in his images. The images presented here are indeed nice examples of that. Very here!

Looking at your Photostream, photoe, you should post that reddish/orange flower thats about to bloom. The rendering in that photo is gorgeous.
There are some quirks, and "bipolar disorder" characteristics which I don't fully comprehend yet. However, I am starting to like this lens.
Some more notes.
1. Very hard to focus at f/1.4. Almost impossible (at least for me) to achieve precise focus, MFD / wide-open.
2. Bokeh monster. Absolutely brilliant bokeh.
3. Harsh CA wide open in contrasty situations.
4. Uber sharp (feels sharper than 2/35) at f/5.6.
5. Reds are hard to focus at close focus distances.
6. Colors are just absolutely gorgeous.. Greens and yellows are magical.
7. Feels like the lens has a split personality f/1.4 - f/2.8. Depending on focus distance and precise focus, it can be exceptionally sharp, but at close focus distances, struggles and seems like it belongs at the end of the line in ZE/ZF lineup for sharpness / pop.
