The shot was taken wide open....
The tree on the left edge was at a distance that was not on a same/similar focal plane as the bench.
So, I guess calling it Illusion is correct.....
there are two AEG on ebay right now and 3 rollei versions... granted the rollei ones (especially the "prototypes") are very expensive but one of the AEG is only up to 100 something (no ridiculous buyitnow)... I guess its all about how long you can wait and how much you can spend... to that end visiting this thread isn't going to help you (didn't help my wallet any :P )

indeed! i kinda overpaid for my Rollei but at the time, there was the ebay Bing cashback which helped a lil. plus i wanted the Rollei for the triangular bokeh
the rollei ones are "prototypes" whatever that means but it seems both have the metal barrels and are expensive. the one from japan is 1200 or so but its an AE, the one with an actual auction actually states that there are issues with the glass elements itself... and the decently priced rollei at 1200 is from czech republic. I would rather buy from US...besides KEH, BH, Adorama and craigslist what are other good sources?
Also how would you mount rollei to EF? is that m42?
there are rollei/eos adapters on ebay... as for buying from outside the US, the MM that's on its way to me right now is from Poland. The seller has good feedback and sells a lot of camera equipment and I've bought from him in the past so just b/c a seller is foreign shouldn't really be an auto turn off. I understand if you want to wait for one on this side of the pond but you may end up waiting a while. An aside on craigslist, I think it depends on where you live... here in north Florida we rarely see anything interesting.... but craigslist for NYC has some fun stuff and makes me a bit jealous from time to time You could of course put a WTB ad in the B&S or check some of the other forums (photography-on-the-net has a bunch of users with canon and some like alt glass... I haven't been on there in a very long time but I remember seeing contax glass on their b&s).
i think i sold the most recent zeiss on POTN with my distagon 28 2.8.... I guess i'll have to be patient, just waiting for my planar 50 ze to sell then i can not really dwell on cost...
This lens has been opened and whoever did it either did not have a rubber tool to do it the right way, or the ring was stuck so the only way to unscrew it was to drill two holes and use a spanner wrench. That by itself does not necessarily mean there is anything wrong with the lens now, but for whatever reason it had to be opened, so at the very least I'd ask why.
As a new member to this forum and a great admirer of the content, specially on this thread, would someone please explain the difference between the 1.4/35mm HFT lenses and the Contax Zeiss Distagon T* 1.4/35mm lenses?
