a quick question for the group... is the "ninja star" bokeh that is seen when the contax 35/1.4 is slightly stopped down specific to any version (AEG or MMJ) or is it a characteristic of all contax brand 35/1.4... also, by what stop do those ninja stars turn into octagons?

morpheus2891,
I assume the "ninja star" bokeh shape occurs only to the AE version similar to other focal lengths. Someone with an MM version will have to confirm that.
My AE version has the ninja bokeh from f2-f2.8 and turns into octagon from f4.
one more question to the group... is there a preferred adapter for this lens (is it picky about adapters). I just got an MM on fleebay and will be using it on a 5D... not so much worried about it hitting the mirror (mine is shaved) as I am about a poor quality adapter screwing with the image quality... what does everyone here use?
I got the HappyPageHk adapter with chip and I get perfect infinity focus.
Something I couldn't get with the FotoDiox Pro adapter.
I brought the adapter issue up earlier in this thread around this time:
yea... i heard good things about happypagehk but that seller doesn't offer adapters anymore (in fact he doesn't have any listings at all).... anyone make any recommendation out of whats currently available? (or if you have a spare adapter to sell let me know).
ahh that's quick, morpheus2891? You were just asking about it yesterday .
I got a few adapters from this vendor and they all are fine. I like this vendor because they are in the East coast (NY) and they ship quickly. My adapters always shown up in a few days for me.
