I check this thread daily, love the pictures.
However I would like to acknowledge the elephant in the room and draw attention to the upcoming release of the new ZE 35. I have just about given up trying to get one of these special revered older lenses($2200ebay) and resigned myself that I will look to one of the new examples. Price while high, seems to be about right in the market place for new fast wide lens. I've been saving since October, ready to go.
Anyone else here checking availability of new lens? Or is it just hype?
$2200? i've seen them for more like 1200, granted there is that one guy selling the "prototype" rollei versions for over 2k (but he's waaaaay out there)....

Yeah I'd like you to be right. I have only been looking for a couple of months, nothing available locally and I'm a little disillusioned with ebay most "bargains' do prove to be too good to be true.
I'd like to be able to contribute with pictures one day to this thread, not chatter.

All the decent ones were going for 1200, so i bit the bullet and bought a very clean MMJ on ebay yesterday. I wonder how much the new 35 will affect the price on the the contax one. Does anybody remember how the new 21 affected the old distagon price? It seems to me that old distagons are still holding in price.
crazeazn, I think you're right in that contax lenses will generally hold their value since they are different in their rendering than the ZEs. $1200 is what I paid for my mint 35/1.4 with with box and papers (and it came with a screw on contax front cap rather than a pinch...kind of unusual)... now if only US customs would get off their asses and clear my leitax kit so I can get this lens on my 5D (the lens came from overseas as well and they held on to it for over 5 days!) I just received the lens yesterday and now I have no way to mount it and its driving me nuts
That is the one I picked up. I hope customs doesnt hold mine up like yours! Morpheus which adapter are you going to use? I cant wait, this was my first lense purchase in 2 years.
crazeazn congrats on the new lens... hope it gets to you quickly... I got the wide version of the contax/eos leitax as per David's recommendation. Unfortunately although he shipped it back on the 10th I'm still waiting to get it. What's funny is that before the holidays I had another lens shipped from the same seller (that I just got the contax from) in Poland and the EMS package got to me in 5-6 days (I'm in FL)... this time it took 2 weeks by the same express mail. Does anyone know whether they're just screening packages for security reasons or are they trying to collect more duties or what?
Crazeazn - nice lens - you might need to clean your camera up so it doesn't make that lens look bad - Matsuiyastore carries a very fine lens inventory - I purchased a Leica R from them a few years ago - good people to deal with.
I use this adapter - link - it looks exactly like the HappyPage HK the used to be available but disappeared - the Optix V-5+ works very well - I've had no problems with infinity or mirror conflict.
mMontag - The matsuiyastore pictures of the lense make me want to clean my cameras! I get the lense was barely used judging by how clean the mount is. I have a friend loaning me his fotodiox pro, so I will give a go at that. Is it possible to put a optix v5 onto an adapter that doesnt have it to begin with? I really wanted a 3-blade Rollei, but those are nearly impossible to come by, plus the two on have pretty steep asking prices (prototypes should be cheaper right?/? haha)
steveu - Just be patient with ebay, I have been watching for the last 3 weeks or so. The good clean copies hover around the 1100~1200 mark if you are willing. I also believe that since there is significant difference between this version and the one that will come out that the prices will hold in case you would like to sell later on. Furthermore the price increases on the ze/zf 35 f/2 makes that around 1000 so I believe that 1200 is a pretty good deal.
