I posted this question on a wrong thread.... so here I go one more time...
I looking at a Germany made 35/1.4, but it has a lot of thin scratches on the front element, which do not seem to effect the image quality.
The rear element is spotless....
Is it worth $850 ... ?
If I negotiate a little, he may be able to go down to $800 ....
Paul,
You know you cannot resist.I predict we will see this copy on the B&S in the near future.Enjoy the new lens Paul.It has that 3D magic that you love.Look forward to seeing what you can do with it

Decision, decision....
Don`t worry - front element doesn`t have significant impact on the quality of pictures as rear
My rear is scratched on center but the lens is still very sharp, contrasty and exc against light from wide open
Thank you for your input...
That's what I usually read on internet...
I may pull the trigger....

Mine is scratched on rear element and is perfectly fine - sharp, contrasty and very good against light;
front element don`t have so influence on quality
Paul, incase you are still considering the scratched one, Mine is badly scratched and is still perfectly sharp. Worst symptom I have had was slightly exaggerated flare around bright lights at night or in strongly backlit situations a slight glow can appear.
I paid less than the going rate for a nikkor 35/1.4 at the time so it hasn't worried me the slightest
