Wow, what a terrific and thoroughly enjoyable series!
I am particularly impressed by how you've managed to keep focus on the eye even when a much larger wing is very much in front of his head, such as shots 13 and 14. Kudos to you Mr. Zoom.
cheers,
Darron
Hi Darron,
One of the elelments that make a good wildlife photo a great wildlife photo is the ability to keep the eye sharp like these show. Using the center AF point only helps if you can keep it on target.
Well Ken, it's all been said and all deserved. This is an amazing series of high tech work and the best part is it made me think of the bird and its tremendous abilities. Until studying these images I hadn't really considered how much power it must take for a large wet bird to fly out of the "hole", as you say, and with large prey in its talons. Also it's a good thing they have small brains. Me, I'd be thinking during the dive, what if there's a rock under water and I drive my beak into that?
Enjoyed these images, a lot.

Got the poor 'sucker'! Holy stuff to you Mr Z M
Delightful sequence, very cool with that little snubnose coming up out of the water with those big eyes saying 'here goes the ride of my life'
I like the friendly assistance by the dark raiders, always willing to help
Fine work Ken, congrats buddy on the persuance and accomplishment, now member of the Holy Grail club with authority!
Karl
Hi Mr. Karl,
Holy stuff indeed. That's a wrap as they say here in Hollywood
I've been a memeber of the REAL Holy Grail Club for quite a while not but it is important to stay active if you want to keep your memebership. I'm afraid there are several local shooters that are about to have their priveleges revoked if they don't start producting soone
Appreciate your continued support and so long and thanks for all the fish
Ken this series is one of the best--Holy Grail or not. Great images with losts of action and crisp detail and colors.
Very cool! I'll bet the low res files don't do these justice! Stunning!

Holy Cow...oops that my post. What FANTASTIC action captures Mr. Z Capone . These shots are only in my dream. How far were you from this? Great job.
Dean
Hi Dean,
This all happened within about 30 feet of me and i was shooting with the 500 so some were close to FF when I got em. All in a days work were you to ask me
WHAT A SERIES! 7 is an accomplishment in itself, and 9 is just plain OUT of this World! The fact that you captured every photo in the sequence in such stunning detail is Fantastic, thanks for sharing.

Super set,Ken! I especially like #5,6,7 and 8. From what you described the Osprey's fish hunting behavior,
you'll get a pretty good chance to get a clear
shot when it hovers and then AF the bird's action from there. How far were you
from the bird? I wonder if 420mm is good enough to get a reasonable image size?
Thanks for sharing.
Hello Hide,
Yes, one could have easily capture the action with about 400mm of lens. I was shooting the 500 so keeping it in the FOV was challenging at times and I might have caught more of the dive if I hadn't lost it on the way down.
