ok, seriously, I'm about to sell an organ... but what I sell depends on the wait time... are we think'in 2009 or 2010? Single digit of months can bring me aaaaallllllll the way into June of 2010!!!
Now... if the wait's till next April, I may give up a kidney, maybe throw in the pancreas too... but if it's by Oct/Nov, I might have to sell a lung... if it's next week ~ well, I'll sell whatever it takes!
Kittyk - I re-looked at your comments - "film people will buy based on the name" - FM2 comes to mind... Revolutionary from D70 to D3X... This is truely puzzeling Several people in the last few monts (such as Christian Fletcher) have stated that something revolutionary will come from Nikon. Hopefully it's more than a build-in beamer this time - looking forward to be able to for real!
Ok - if it's >15MP and the 6400 iso I guess I can only hope for <10fps and a big price-tag in a big body... With my camera taking pictures somewhere in Africa at the moment (stolen) I must say that I look forward to knowing more, but time will tell I guess. If D3X owners will look at it there must be something particular about it more than eg.24MP though....

Kitty hinted at a camera with less cutting edge features, a camera for elderly photographers, rather than soccer moms. That could allow for a smaller and lighter camera which would please quite a lot of D3X owners.
I am still saying that this is a digital FM2 equivalent with a FX sensor, perhaps less controls on the body, and a small form factor (like a FM2 or something).
A digital FM2.... Memories - I LOVED my FM2, going down in the dark room and thinking about....pictures - yes in those days that's what I did . Today I feel like an idiot because I feel a need (somehow ) for all the gadgety MB and fps etc....

Yes, that would make sense. For me, anyway.
If Leica can put an FX sensor into a classic M body, why shouldn't Nikon be able to build a compact FX digital camera? Yes, a digital FM2. Make it 3 fps only, just a basic AF, less bells and whistles and call it a Nikkormat FMD. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

If we all reply every so often, this thread will stay on top...unless you have info on an affordable FF with top notch af and ISO performance...Nikon updating their prime lens lineup...it's just another one of these rumor threads...here we go again D800, D4 and list goes on.
I'm following the OP's advice; I'm selling everything now! I feel all tingly inside just waiting to see what it will be! Gosh, I hope it's another Coolpix! Hopefully a lime green one this time! I hope it is able to project video on to the wall and has functions for GEO tracking (by that I of course mean tracking my Geo Metro; I always seem to forget where I park it).
I hope this new Coolpix is at least 18 megapixels (with a smaller sensor of course so we can keep the camera nice and small) and can shoot up to ISO 65,000. I will be happy if the lens is a 35-200mm 6.8, and I want all the cool 7,500 functions to be accessed by a single button through on-screen menus!
I would like to see it advertised on national TV by Sigorny Weaver because I can only trust the advice given by famous Hollywood actors whenever I make my camera-purchasing decisions.
Nikon are you listening? Please, please give us another Coolpix! The world really needs another Coolpix! Don't follow that new trend that Canon, Leica, Lumix, Sigma, and Olympus have been playing at recently (you know, producing compact cameras with a focus on image quality instead of more megapixels and useless features?) . Nikon, be your own company. Don't follow the pack. Please give us another Coolpix. Make mine lime-green though!
