I know all about House.
I know it shoots 'Good' video. 10K video cams ? I don't use those, I use 100+K camera packages.
I have literally shot every format there is during 1,000's of days on set.
But try using it 'in the real world' in 'real life' productions, HD stands for Huge Delays !
It's an Artisitic tool at the moment. The DSLR / Video thing.
HD is here to stay as there are just a handful of tv shows shooting 35mm.
Even features are doing more HD than film these days.
I might leave for Detroit to do a movie in a few weeks... HD, not film.
In my opinion, they should be two separate things. video/stills that is.
but in the end, we'll all have DSLRs that will shoot HD video.
Great for home movies and 'artistic' works, but for mainstream film making it's NOT the tool.
been saying just this very thing KJ for a long time and i come from the Audio end of it. For me great Audio is what makes great "video" but that is a whole nuther matter . I am glad you are here with a more "informed" view , than all the internet Canon parrots

Hey, maybe were getting off track here, I was responding to the fact that someone said a $100 video camera takes better video than a DSLR. I said that, with some limitations, they can do better than even $10,000 video cameras, i.e. the prosumer stuff... I never said they were easy to work with, or were better to use than a pro 100K or whatever rig.

This is not o.k., Kitty
You have opened your mouth and predicted that life changing Nikon camera, and it has not appeared within that "single digit of months" timeframe. At least you have to tell us wether it is postponed, and until when, or cancelled
D95 Q2/10 14 MP 1080p AVCHD video
70-300/VRII Q2/10 just like they did to the 80-400 and 18-200, just a VRII mini-update
D6000 Q3/10 14 MP 720p or 1080p MJPG only video
24-105/4 VR Q3/10
35/1.4 Q3/10
85/1.4 Q3/10
D4000 Q4/10 12 MP no video
D700s/x Q4/10 the D700 either gets the sensor from the D3s or the D3x... i'm betting the D3x
D400 Q4/10 14 or 16 MP 1080p video
70-200/4 VR Q4/10
50/1.2 Q4/10

More like bad information. The 9 month mark has come and gone. And if you have to keep your mouth shut, why did you start this post to begin with? Attention mongering?
And I like this setup, "Hey, something big from Nikon is coming in the next year ... but I can't say what it is!" and then when Nikon anounces anything big enough to make you seem credible, you take credit for knowing about it ahead of time ... please
Either truely keep your mouth shut or spill the beans. Anything else is just playing games and destroys your credibility.

After seeing her work Andre, something tells me Kittyk isn't want for attention. Plus, in my experience, Germans are rarely full of crap as it's not the valued personality trait that it is here in the US.
This is an interesting thread. I have been watching the message boards and rumor sites to see if anything will be posted that confirms something my local camera store owner told me on the phone a few months ago. He owns a pretty nice camera store that caters to professional photoagraphers and he has a close relationship with his Nikon rep. I was talking to him about wanting a 35mm 1.8 DX lens and a DX camera in order to get a compact kit that is smaller and lighter than my D700 and 2.8 Nikon lenses. I also mentioned that I am interested in something like an Olympus E-P2 or something like that which is compact and vintage looking with high image quality. His response to me was that his Nikon rep has told him that Nikon is coming out with something this Fall that will be revolutionary and very exciting. Consequently, I have been thinking that I will hold off until at least the Fall and continue to lug my D700 around and see fi this thing pans out.
I don't know if these "My Nikon rep told me that something very new and exciting is about to come out" rumors are common and are always out there, but I have been paying attention because this camera store owner is a serious competent guy who wouldn't just tell me a rumor to lead me on. Do Nikon reps make stuff up and tell store owners fibs? I don't know. But I am hoping for a Nikon rangefinder-style camera with a large sensor and small lenses.
Revolutionary is a word abused by marketing departments way too much. Nowadays, the word has almost zero intrinsic value for educated consumers. Technology progresses in gradual steps. Revolutionary, in marketing speak, is a poorly implemented video mode and maybe a small ISO boost.
The gear is already revolutionary as is. Nikon is not about to release anything that relegates a D3s and their recent crop of lenses useless. A small mirrorless camera might be something some photographers are looking for, but they already have the Olympus PEN and a few other choices that were supposed to kill the DSLR. I would love it if the new EVIL had the same quality and performance as current bodies, but it isn't about to happen.
I really hope the new product is a D700 update, but I also would be interested in a "Nikon rangefinder-style camera with a large sensor and small lenses", but add 1080P video to that... the ultimate travel, street, vacation, stealth, camera.
