Oh goody, that AF-S 10-500mm f/1.8-2.8 VR (I'm not greedy, don't need constant aperture) I've been wanting! I was wondering when they'd announce it.

Change my Nikon life? What could it be? A Canon pro-body with working AF and clean ergonomics?

Hmm... Single digit months = 9 or less.

Did a Hassy get knocked up by a D3x and we're about to see resulting love child?

It's funny how there's a rumor that surfaces every month or two that Nikon is really going to announce something HUGE within a year (wasn't it a blues bros concert last time?). Yawn.

(and yes, if something big comes in 9 months or less, I admit I was wrong to make fun of this post)

it's a camera from nikon that can bend time & space, can see behind itself and teleport you to a dimensional fork in the road where einstein, socrates & mark twain are debating the what came first---the chicken or the egg.

If he won't spill the beans I will. I have it on good authority that Nikon cameras will no longer be black. You will have your choice of several pastel colors.

The 6/2.8 could see behind itself, but mostly the tripod legs.

Only thing this thread is missing is a flash forward and a smoke monster.

Now THAT would be awesome. I would totally rock a mauve D3.

I actually heard from a VERY RELIABLE source about a new feature called "Dead View" that actually lets you see ghosts of people from your past.

Can it be that we FINALLY get this feature after dreaming about it for so long?

I'm saving already, I don't know about you guys...

I understand it will have movie mode AND a built in projector. So you can see what you're shooting while you're shooting it.

If you turn on live view you'll be able to take a picture of the picture you took.

According to my calculations, if the shutter speed is high enough, this should allow you travel back in time and retake any shots that you missed.

Oh, you didn't know? The new AF-S 10-500 also uses only 49mm filters, and is compatible with TC's. Great results when reversed too.

I've got one on preorder. What am I going to do with my 85/1.4?

The only product that Nikon can come up wit that would change my "Nikon Life" would be something like this: http://nikonrumors.com/2009/09/15/nikon-to-announce-aps-c-sized-sensor-compact-camera-similar-to-leica-x1.aspx
If it has good EVF, a new line of small fast primes, dependable AF and a pop-up flash that acts as a commander.....
that would change my "nikon Life."

The "problem" with the X1 is that you can't change lenses. You only have a 35mm equiv f/2.8 lens.
