so does this whole 7D release thing happen with a midnight dpreview announcement, or do we have to wait for a midday brikk-and-mörtar press conference from scandanavia?
I just wanted to know the price, and I asked like 1700 times, and I just decided that until someone answered, I was going to type price price price in, until it was answered.

popcorn in hand.
Typically released at midnight, Eastern Time in the U.S. (I think?). If tomorrow is announcement day, we'll have the info tonight.
I'm staying up. Then again I'm usually still up anyway at that time of night.

So it appears, but all 19 points seem to be cross sensors up to f/5.6, which is in some ways better than what you get in the 1DIII if you use any off center points with an f/4 lens. The center sensor is f/2.8 high precision.

What's the deal with the people celebrating D700 as some "revolution" to show how FF and high burst rate can be done in the same body?
Yes, D700 do some nice things, BUT (except for the high-ISO) with the IQ almost retarded compared to present level. The same level was achieved back in 2004. year (original 1Ds, 5D, 1Ds Mk2...), so when we come to the point that output is most important photographers result, who the hell's excited about the all the bells and whistles that D700 offers?
Your client or whoever lookes at your photos certainly is no excited about your 12765 AF points, ISO102400, 20fps burst and all other crap - the photo is all that counts, and when we come to that, what D700 has to offer over the old 5D in the terms of IQ?
I'm tired of people mentioning D700 in every topic I've read past year. D700 is no close to market top seller to celebrate it like some religion, or I've missed something? Initial D700 sell rate is most provoked by Nikonians hunger for cheapo FF, rather than unbeliveable IQ.
Everyone who is enlightened when "D700" word is spoken, should buy one for himself to live the nirvana starting right now... no one stops them.
Oh Christ...
Best regards and NHF!

I've shot with nearly every Canon, and also own a D700, and IMO, it is excellent in all areas. Only one gripe and that's the lack of a 100% viewfinder.

Hehehehehe!! You know we live for these stuff!!! It's very exciting!!!
I think a lot of people have been sitting on their wallet waiting for this. I and a buddy have, at least. If these specs are correct we are buying... not waiting on reviews for validation. Early Adopters baby!
The specs say it's APS-C 1.6x. The 1.45x is wishful thinking. It would be nice but the US has more chance of paying off it's debt next year than this happening.
