Maybe, Fn implies customisable though rather than just "on/off"
Someone said the text overlaps some of the button holes, so it is a fake? Or did someone just stamp in fake text over where the earliest version had been pixellated??
Looks like the blue protective film partially covers the m button in question. Kinda hard to PS/mask in I would think. The image is soft on the right side so it is hard to tell about the lettering; It doesn't look like it is overlapping to me...
I take that back about the lettering. It seems something is up with the metering/WB button and icon. Seems to overlap a little, could be angle or combo of a crappy image....

This is not to say they don't listen to a relatively small, respected coterie of people who do use the internet--Rob Galbraith, for instance, who has had a "special relationship" with Chuck Westfall for years.

So, do you guys think it will be FF, 1.3X or 1.6X?
On the one hand, single digit DSLRs have either been FF or 1.3X but on the other hand, the original ELAN 7 was a consumer camera so 1.6X is also likely.
Haven't had time to post on here for ages... but I just had to after seeing the 'top shot' above!
It's a fake.... open in PS & using levels increse the gamma (middle slider to the left)
On the dial between the green square and C3 it's clearly been smudged - it's far to uniform.
On the dial again, the silver ring is incomplete - and the 'M' has clearly been pasted in from another image (you can see along the left edge of the 'M' as we look at it).
I'm not sure, but don't the rebels have Penta mirrors, not prisms, which are smaller and cheaper and dimmer? Maybe that's only for the DSLR rebels, not film Rebels.

The 7D could very well be Canon's answer to Nikon's D300s (which Canon has certainly known about). So if this is true (or anything else in this thread), the 7D is to the 5DII what the D300s is to the D700. I expect a 1.6 crop 5DII wIth similar focus. High hopes with Canon lead to big disappointments twice a year. I would rather be excited about a camera than disappointed when my dream camera doesn't come to fruition. I would be shocked if a FF for less money than 5DII is announced.
Other than adding HD video to a 50D, they already their answer. If the 7D is just a 50D with video that'll be pretty pathetic IMO. And I don't want either AF system.
BTW - the last few days have been the funniest ever. I've been watching without being involved, and the tension was almost palpable on the various forums!
My view is that the whole 7D nonsense is just wishful thinking. We'll see a 50D upgraded to a 60D, same sensor, same AF, but with video thrown in (and maybe a bigger buffer, ram being so cheap).
I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet against it...

My guess, this 7D is a 1.3x crop, 6-8fps, Pro level AF (1D series-ish) and 1080p video.
Literally a swipe at the D300s, but with a larger sensor.
That would be sweet.
As I argued in the past, the 1.3x crop sensor is too valuable to waste and if dropped from the 1 series should be the basis of the premier crop camera in their line-up. Make a D300s killer based on 1.3x not 1.6x.

Not a bad effort, but not that good either!
Bye!
Then why go to so much trouble to get the M.Fn button hole so good. That looks genuine to me.

Make sense..........but you can't deny that forums has impacted a lot of our buying decisions which in the end impacts Canon. (from the inital popularity of the 50 f1.8.........or the L fever bug that has swept over the entry level / pro-sumer market unseen from the film days - before internet forums were popular). But yeah, maybe Canon could care less about what we say here, I still haven't seen a 24-75 f1.8 IS we've all been asking for
..............what I meant to say was that a lot of Canon shooters decided to stay in the Canon camp and not jump ship to Nikon or Sony because of the lenses Canon offer. Again, this is merely my opinion. I was almost on the verge of switching when Nikon introduced the D700 but did not because of the 35 & 85 L, I had no interest in the 5DMKII because it was overcooked on some aspects and under hashed on others, + the price was above what I wanted to pay, so I'm sticking to my trusty 5D.
and what is the point of these campaigns if not for the FM/DPR etc. crowd so if they care to tease them they probably do care at least a little what they say

I always wonder what kind of people have so much time on their hands to create these elaborate fake images and spread them on the net only to get 2000 comments on a rumor thread(?).

the original still might be real, since the original had all the parts that look funky on this version heavily pixellated out, maybe someone tried to hack those bits into a real image
or it is a slow reveal like the 5D2 moon, which also had some weird PP done at times
Are you suggesting that Canon have realised the impact of viral marketing Surely not!
skidbum5... which bits from your original image (well, not yours per se) were obscured? I was just commenting on the current image that's widely circulated.

i'm not sure if i completely recall, but the whole mode dial area was gone, the yellow part that is still gone, the general area around the M.Fn I forget if it covered the WB area or not, it might have had all those markings for the buttons pixellated out too....
i didnt pay too much attention since it mostly annoyed me and then i quickly found the new version
