now if you try to remove the head will come off but not the the threaded portion. it takes over 300in/lbs of torque to break the red cured over 24hrs. or if you want to try apply a fairly high heat source to weaken it. which in turn will most likely do some damage to the clip assy too. other then that its pretty permanent so we are back to my first line.

Did you do any mods to it? How did you attach it to your slr? And how do you keep it from sliding too far back? These things are made to handle 10# rifles so it should be fine...
It hooks right onto the fastenR2 which is on my 200-400. It is like an adjustable strap / bungee cord strong enough to do the job. And, when I am finished with the camera it goes back on my S&W M&P15X.
the MASH clip is designed by ITW. squeezing the 2 opposed center tabs togetherallow the overlapping hoops to seperate and looop in/out of a metal closed loop.
How's the finish on the MASH clip? Are they made with stainless steel? Will it scratch the camera/lens finish? I read somewhere that they come pre-oiled to prevent rust?
it is blackened stainless steel. no oil required. now since it is stainless and that is a metal it can scratch lighter materials. its location is under the camera just like the metal clip from BR which also can scratch your camera. i just ordered 2 to play with. the outfit i purchased them from has them with black elastic over them to quiet them and help deter scratching.

well though this is not an answer to the issue i have done a minor work around. 3mm climbing cord (500lb test). in a loop around the strap material and the carabiner itself as a safety. i will run with this in mine for a few jobs i must do do. it is long enough to allow for a single 360 rotation for now. THIS IS NOT AN ANSWER THIS ISSUE. i'm going to give mine a beating in use.
I really don't understand all these strap failures. I've used the older ones and the straps with the new hardware. Both versions have performed very well. I'm beginning to wonder if it's operator error. What exactly is failing on them?
Perhaps you don't understand the strap failures, but the folks at BR sure do. That is why they keep modifying the hardware in a vain effort to get it right. At this point, I would not use one of their overpriced straps if they gave it to me.

Any problems w/ scratching? It looks like it uses the MASH clip someone else posted about and comes w/ a slide over cover for the clip?
I would just like to add and it probably does not need saying but, before you use the Loctite, besure to clean all the parts with either MEK or Acetone to make certain you get full and clean bond.

Glad I ran into this forum.
I just received a new hook the other day.
Just checked it and it unscrewed without much effort.
I was upset because when I made the purchase it was pictured with the camera part, which it apparently does not come with.
It's a shame. The guy seems to have a good idea, but his business practice sucks.
I've emailed them twice. No response as of yet.
I just received my strap last week and on the same day got the email for the new connector being sent "soon"
Seriously... what a customer service nightmare. I will not attach and use with out a safety strap. Being an Operations Manager myself, I preach "Excellence in Reputation" to my team. I would be sending those replacements NEXT DAY.
I asked them to describe what their product testing process involved. No response yet.
