Yeah, that's puzzling. I / we like clean, tidy images with isolated subjects, while most people I talk to want "more in the picture".
Before my interest in photography developed, I was not aware of the shallow DoF effect, and didn't understand what was going on. I only saw images with more or less content.

Dawei, that is a very pretty child, very well photographed.
One suggestion though: a little bit less background/bokeh, more human contents. Decrease the distance, reframe/crop as required, choose more subdued/neutral background .

Does the university have new openings? Maybe too old to be a student, but how about gardeners?
