Nope.....the 400.
Even a 300 would have done just as well.

Edit: What I meant to say was that even 300 f/4 non-IS and 300 f/2.8 would have done as well. I.e., not "any" 300mm lens.

This is becoming very annoying: when I try to photograph flowers, birds butt into the frame and ruin the picture. When I shoot birds, kids barge in and spoil my shots.

The minimum I like to shoot now for the best bokeh is 10 feet. Any closer and the BG is too obvious even at f5.6

Oh no no I was trying to tell Rich that for the best blurred out background, the minimum distance BEHIND the subject to BG should be 10 ft or more with 20 feet being the most pleasing IMO. Sorry I didn't make that clear.
