Well done, Noelle.
Images like yours always remind us of the idea that there is more to fine photography than individual feather count on a bird.

Thank you Peter...that means alot

It was not my best egret shot but I loved that he was standing on the pole, had grasses and I could also play with the composition.

Conrad, what I think is also helpful to keep in mind is that one is doing those "control" shots as their own technical exercise, and not to impress any audiences.
The priorities are focus, exposure and framing, in that order.
Any time a shot fails, gotta try to understand the reason for it and then devise some sorta remedy. Sometimes that remedy is a better camera/lens, but there's usually more than one way to skin a cat.

Your words ring in my ears when I'm out there shooting. Haha! Thanks Peter!

Good story, Kevin.
That Green Heron image has some fine elements in it which would stand out even more if you lightened it.

Thanks PetKal, I uploaded the wrong version, should be fixed now.

Yes, Kevin, that does it. Especially the shot atmosphere is first class.
Master Conrad also had a similar shot recently.
