Look at it this way, the 1d2 will find those birds of prey for you. This rth looks very good and the color/exposure/contrast looks very pleasing. I'm still crossing my fingers for the rumoured improved af for the 60d. If this becomes a reality, the 1d4/1d3n would be less appealing.
I tell you Wing this 1DIIN shoots so freaking fast I can't believe it even as I hear it! But I think I'll be keeping my 85mm (the guy is trying out overnight) afterall. Maybe I'll see what comes down the pipe from canon in the next couple years.
Nice, Conrad, you are clearly on your way.
Especially the dove which is generally much harder to get in flight than a hawk, let alone an eagle, GBH, pelican or some such large slow flying bird.

I do have more keepers but I can't crop most of my shots very much. They are at almost 100% every time by the time I get them how I want them framed. This is pretty typical I expect of the 8mp limitation.

@ Petkal: hey Peter, what setting do you usually have your 1D AF set to?
* Seven point AF activation area expansion.
* Fast sensitivity (CFn 20).....mind you, that one doesn't seem to make one heck of a difference.
* Never use auto AF selection. Practically always use tracking with the center AF +expansion.
* Much of the time I am shooting at 3 FPS because I like to see what is that I am shooting and concentrate on focus maintenance. I'd be using 5 FPS often too if it was available.

That's about it.
Thanks! I'm out and about now looking for burds! Hehe... I will try your settings!
Easy there maverick. I know its rare to find a chick who can talk about gear, shoot bif AND cook and clean and raise kids but I tell you, there's gotta be something wrong with her. There is no perfect woman... Haha! (Just kidding Noelle)
