Damn it! I'm out here and see nothing. Not even and ducks. Grr...
If you're driving, Quarry Lakes is about 5 minutes north of that pond you're at. Or, another 20 minutes will get you to the eagle sightings at Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve in the Oakland hills near the Caldecott tunnel. Or, go check out the Hayward Regional Shoreline and see if that's any good.
Nope! Just a bunch of crows and seagulls... But now I'm back at my favorite creek, I already have a couple shots of a redtail, a snowy and some hummers! Tried and true location! I'll go back for that osprey soon... Aren't you supposed to be in Chicago?

That's exactly what I think we need to do, Conrad. Take ordinary subjects (birds) such as crows and seagulls and sparrows and try to capture them in interesting photographs.
The best photographers have a special talent form turning "ordinary" subjects and scenes into inordinary and beautiful imagery. That I find to be the most difficult aspect of the photography craft. Something worth striving towards.

You're right Peter. I should stop trying to get that osprey for now and work on shots like yours! Nice shot by the way. Love the mural of the fish in the background!
