Good shooting & PP, Noelle.
Now that you entered into the swallow-in-flight field of photography, I think our friend Conrad has a bit of a challenge in front of him.

Thank you PetKal.... I cannot wait to go back to this place. It was a nature reserve and there were two egrets. I chased them back and forth for hours.

ok...one more for today. I chopped the head off of another egret for this one because his head was tucked and a little hidden by his wing
Frankenstein photography! hmmm, the jury is still out on this one.
@ Noelle:
Wow! You've really outdone youself with the swallows and egrets! Hats off to you! I know what you mean about shots that didn't turn out. I have lots in the recycle bin for sure. Good PS work though. Not sure about the frankenstein photography like Wing said but its whatever makes you happy! I also know about chasing egrets around for hours! Haha! Makes me laugh!
@ Petkal:
nice SIF! Let me ask you, why are other's photos so free of noise and yet so sharp? If I use ISO of any less than 800 my shots are just too blurry. the trado off is my noise a$$ photos which noise removal takes out the detail way too much in! Is it my 50D? Should I replace it with the 1DII or 1DIII? Seems like the photos from those cameras like Wing's and Noelle's are so sharp and noise free.

Peter you couldn't be more right! I've been trying to get swallows in flight for days now. Its just so hard to do with 9AF points! Hahaha! It is a challenge. Noelle, teriffic work once again. I feel like your shots are getting better by the day! Mine have kinda plateaued for sure.

Conrad.....unless I get the exposure right with the MKII I will see noise so it's really been teaching me to get it right in camera. I do not like to go over 500ISO with the MKII so shooting in good light is really the key.
As far as BLURRY goes it should be your shutter speed that needs to be high
Tree swallows were 1/1600.....200 ISO...shutter prority
Now I am sure what you are saying is you need to bump your ISO to get your shutter speed high enough to capture those BIF.....I do not use the 1.4X because I will lose a stop and then I would really need to bump my ISO.
I will say I LOVE this camera!! I have the 5D but the MKII blows it away for BIF.

Conrad, it's the camera..... I had it on a tripod and focused on the Swallow house and just kept firing away when the birds were fluttering around it.
If I were trying to get him just flying around that would be tough!! Those little birds are fast and skittish.
Let me grab some fire ants, throw them to the air, and take some shots..hmmmm...on second thought...nahhh......**...
