These are truly a collection of inspiring pictures - makes me determined to do better next year. Here is my contribution - taken at Wadi Rum, Jordan (which BTW is the area where Lawrence of Arabia resided).

WoW!! what else can I say. this is the best NOrthern Light I have seen. I hope your print is at least big enough to cover your biggest wall. congrats.
Thanks! Only those who have done NLs themselves, will know about the complications which come with them My biggest wall is beyond what is printable on all LF printers I know ... Also that print was not meant for my own walls anyway.
This has been my 'best shot' of 2008, well I should clarify it has been the most successful for me this year
Jane
Jane, I can't believe I missed this shot before. It is incredibly beautiful and my favorite of all the favorites posted so far. Your photograph is truly outstanding.
Jane, I have come across comments which claim that a landscape shot needs to have many elements in the scene to make the eye look into every corner of the photo. But I disagree. Sometimes, simplicity is a virtue. I think your photo is a remarkable illustration of this. Simple but powerful. Really nice.
Awesome collection of work we have in this thread.
I was trying to figure out which one I was going to pick from my Brazil trip.
Was going to post one of the more recognizable shots from Iguazu Falls, but I like this one the best. Mainly for it perspective and composition.
