Well, I've hinted that I finished my book - & so I have. It became long & far more expensive than I wanted. It's 200 pages & has a total of 280 photographs in it. Since this is where I've nurtured my skills I thought I'd share a few shots in it....
Since you all helped me choose my cover - this one won...
If you decide to make a book - follow Tony's example & stick to about 120 pages. I overdid it a tad with 200 pages. Also, somehow Premium Paper became my choice... That made the book far more expensive to print for me. But hopefully my father & the rest of the intended recipients will enjoy it. Tony says the quality paper is nice - - I hope so.....
Feedback will be most appreciated as this was far harder than I thought it would be..... Hopefully easier with the book form my mother I've just started on.... Giving myself five months to finish it.
Ohhhh and that hurts me so bad, flowers for spacers Did I tell you how thankful I was for you posting in the 2008 Karla shot thread
Ummmmmmmmm, love the cover shot, you had good help and I hope the book is a great success, I can't think of a more thoughtful gift to your Dad Oh, and I am surprised it is only 200 pages
Your the best.............take care and it is time to RELAX
wow. nice work lil. i previewed your book on blurb and i must say that i was quite impressed. i like your layout and page designs. very clean and simple which is best to highlight the amazing photographs. i'm sure your father will enjoy the book immensely.
btw, i love that shot with the lilly and bee. quite lovely indeed. oh and i'm happy with your choice for the book cover. that was my pick too. *wink*

Karl,
don't worry - one of these days I'll make a book on flowers alone for my mother. But the next one will be Japanese Gardens as I know she'll love that.
I wanted so much more in the book - but 250 pages was just too long. Ross wanted me to try to get to 150 pages. But no matter how I worked towards that it was just impossible...
I know you're surprised I managed to get down to 200 pages - but trust me - - that took tears of blood....
R E L A X - - yes I need to do that - but I don't know how....

Nice start there, Lil. I had a little trouble with the intro font, hard for me to read....but I'm a 'monkey, so take it with a slice of banana.
Sorry about that - probably a lot easier to read in the book. You guys are all mentioned - but just as Online friends - but I do thank you all... I didn't want a regular school-book-looking font. My daughter was the first one to point that out.
Hopefully not hard to read in the book. I'll let you know when I receive it.
This is a project I want to do sometime in the future, so thanks for all of your advice, I will definitely draw on your experience... lots of PM's most likely.
Now get out there and do some more imaging! Sounds like you need it.

Thank you Hung,
glad you like what you saw. There were times I had to put together more than one shot on a page - to tell a story - as I'm known to do.... My sister now knows what I've done & though she's like him & into photos of people & especially B&W shots - she loves the thought of what I've done. She even likes one of my photos after the fires enough that she wants to have it printed & framed & put on the wall in her house. And she's planning to keep her copy of my book on her coffee table for all to see.
Glad you like the shot of the Lilly (or Lotus whichever it may be...) & the bee. My husband prefered the flowers without bees etc. I prefer them with.... So I made a combination...

Well done, Lil. Great cover! WOW, 200 pages!
Coincidentaly, I've also been considering a personal book project and, so far, have settled on Blurb because of their large size option.
I gather you have not yet received your final copy. I'd be interested if you feel the premium paper was a good choice.
Are you continuing to use Blurb on the next project?
Thank you Bill,
200 pages were easier filled than edited.
yes, blurb have a lot of options & from what I've seen best price.
I will let you know how I feel the Premium paper stands up against the regular paper. I think Tony's bathing Eagles - the original version was printed on the regular paper... I'll try to remember to let you know. I'm hoping to have the book in a few days.
Yes - next project through them as well. now that I know the system etc I think that will be easier for me.

Kirk
Thank you Kirk,
glad you think it looks good. Do one - it's fun, but hard work. For me a labor of love & it's taught me just how much I treasure each of these shots. Eliminating shots was so hard.
PM away - no problem but sooner or later we'll probably go to regular e-mail
yes I need to get out. Today would have been nice, but the insurance adjuster is going to be here in a few hours.
Probably next weekend if I can't get out sooner....
Congrats on you finishing book project! It looks great and it's a great way to
give your father a christmas gift. As a mater of fact, I will give my mother-in-law
my hummingbird photo in a frame as my christmas gift for her. I will check blurb
for my book making but I'll have to finish my story fist. I'm sure your father will
appreciate your book.

Thank you Hide,
It will be the gift to my mother, sister, half-brother (same father, but different mother), my mother-in-law, my father-in-law, my daughter's boyfriend's parents & a few other people as well. Hopefully they will all enjoy.
No, don't write your story first. Write it along with the book - - easier that way. I did my captions last. Well, at least it was for me.
Lil, I don't know what to say - it looks really great, and I'm sure everyone receiving a copy will treasure it. I'd like to do one too.....some day ~ Ron
