We went to the veterinarian today to get Carlos' knee fixed. As you might expect: i was rather nervous, so my photography skills (if any) suffered severely under the pressure
I managed to get a few shots. Not all arty farty or fancy DOF stuff, but important pictures for us. I like to share a few with ya.
All shot with my D300 and 17-55 lens. and hosted by the ever so kind Flickr. Day's like these have quite an impact. But everything is going to be alright! and that's what counts.
Ella, our little Jack Russell, had both of her rear knees operated on before she turned 1. She's just about 11 1/2 years old now and going pretty well - though she has some bone spurs that will need attention soon. So, if Carlos needs some advice for his recovery, perhaps we can put the two of them on a phone call and they can exchange stories. Oh yeah, does Carlos bark in english? I'm afraid Ella is purely American and so is not bilingual.
Not only is the waking up shot my favourite (Love his expression) I have a suspicion it was yours too.
I think I speak on behalf of all FMers that we are really disapointed that you neglected our dog to the point he needed surgery

We just had surgery on our pound rescue dog and it cost $3500 (oh - could have gotten a D3). His recovery is 4 months. It was his left rear knee and they actually cut the bone, realigned it and bolted it back together. He is doing great and is a wonderful patient. Best of luck with Carlos!!!

I hate it when pets hurts, one for the pain they're having, two for the pain to my wallet. Hopefully this will allow him to be back to normal. Great shots, surprised to see them let you take so many.
wow, that's tough, no fun at all, Raymond. I went through that with a 130lb Akita that blew her knee out. Man, what costly and hard to manage mess that was for a while. You'll probably have to make a sling to help carry Carlos, so he can get around for the first few days. I used large bath towels around the midsection, just to help support her weight so she could walk. It's awkward, especially when he has to do his toilet, but it is manageable......
unfortunately my little guy : Mister Dickens (JRT) is gonna have his 16th birthday in a few weeks and his heart has been failing for a year now. it is bittersweet, i thought a year ago that he would only be with me for weeks perhaps months but he is carrying on ! Perhaps he will suprise me and make it another year. I am glad , so glad that Carlos is doing well after this trauma
I had this very same surgery on my bulldog and she came through with flying colours - and so will Carlos!
The recovery period is very important, your surgeon no doubt emphasized this aspect. Carlos will be the better for this procedure and both your lives will be enhanced.
I hope he feels better soon and is as good as new!
