I will, I will .... this weekend. I have absolutely no chance to go out and shoot since getting the camera on Monday. It's dark when I leave for work and it's dark when I leave the office.

Having used multiple 5D's since the day they were released, I can honestly say the images coming from my Mk2 are definitely nicer... Loved the 1st gen 5D...but these are quite nice. I have been using my 5D2 at several functions and sporting events along side my 1D3 and can honestly say I prefer the straight out of the camera files (Raw) from the 5D2. Here are a few from last night...Converted from raw straight out of LR 2.2 with little to no manipulation...minus some cropping and slight "fill light" tweak. All were AWB and not WB tweaked.

And I think you're wrong. Nobody said that 6400 is the new 800, and your tests are at the same magnification when the MKII has waaay more pixels. So your test is flawed.
as i explained in the post, i upscaled the mark i image to match the mark ii image because it would best imitate the real world scenario where i frequently upscale anyway to fit images onto a massive album spread.

I'm afraid still disagree While the MKII isn't a deity, it does provide better images than the MKI, and I own(ed) both. There's clearly finer detail present in your images in the MKII. And I do think, from my tests, that the MKII is about a stop cleaner than the MKI. ISO3200 is quite noisy on the MKI, and much less noisy in the MKII.

Great, I can see the difference even when taking an image of the 5D II!! The image of the 5DII is much sharper and tonal graduation is better than if you had taken an image of the original 5D. thanks! :^)
I like the Gitzo. My carbon has been over the Andes and from China, Tibet and to Nepal, oh and southwest work. I have enjoyed it though and it has held up great. Now to get a 5DII to mount on it!

ENG broadcast cameras have nice viewfinders too.. Try manually follow focusing with a fixed 3" LCD on the back of the 5D2. It's pretty much impossible. I come from a ENG camera background and just cannot do it with this body. I will be adding an external monitor for this purpose. The video feature is nice...But lack of exposure control is the thing most sorely missing. AF can be overcome by either using external field monitor or just locking and block focus for scenes.
For the record, however, the 5D2 DOES HAVE AF in video mode. It is just terribly slow.

This statement is inaccurate. There is AF in video mode on the 5D2. You can either choose phase focus which blacks out the screen for a second while focusing, or you can choose contrast based focusing that allows you to move the sensor to any spot on the LCD, and/or Face Detection AF... All while in VIDEO mode.
Having said this, Contrast Detection is slow. Lack of real exposure control is the main problem with the current design. There are kludgy workarounds...but that is where I'd like to see the changes made.

Anyway, aren't you guys satisfied with the product that I mentioned before Photokina? ... To me it's great EOSfun for the money. The resolution of an 1DsmkIII sensor in an amateur box. But as a 1D series addicted it's not my camera; If I were tight on budget and could not afford an 1DsIII I would buy that 5D2 in a heartbeat. It's the best EOSfun ever for the serious amateur photographer.

For the Record 5DII has manual exposure control that works live and also during the video recording just check the 2 knobs and you will understand what I mean. For the focus well we know that ENG viewfinders are BW just to control best way the focus. Also the focus mechanism for the ENG lens are smooth just for the smooth operation. Even if you attach a small monitor to control your view it will be not so easy to work with such a stack of equipment that lacks so much the versability of a camcorder but for 2000Euros its still a bargain. (I am editing my first Athens video all made by 5D MarkII)
Like BobbyTan, I haven't much had an opportunity to shoot with the new body as it's generally dark and 27 degrees out. But, at 1250 iso, I'm blown away and I never shoot at high iso. I've not one nit to pick with the camera yet.

What, aren't you outraged by the change of the styling of the top cover and the change of the finish?
This camera rocks. Simply. The AF is so much better than the 5D and everything is much tighter and solidly built and everything works like all hell. And I consistently shoot at 1600-6400. Rarely below. Get some grain, but never had problems with that since I shoot in B/W. The H1, h2 are usable if in a pressed pressed, but have heavy horizontal lines making it a but ugly. Putting the Liveview to the direct print button was a stroke of genius (well, people have wanted stuff like this for a while) as it also works as instant MLU access. So many improvements over the 5D. Lovely camera.

I agree with the Liveview on direct print. A great idea. The engineer who thought this one up should get an award!
