An on top EVF with foldable hood (like a Hasselblad) with that new VGA resolution and live view? That would be my top (pun) favorite feature for candid portraits and macro and really add lots of EOSfun! This no rumor BTW

I would never buy a camera with a tilting LCD! I understand how it can be used, but to me it's only a piece that will break in very short time of use.
Sony's seem to be holding out quite good. I see your point though, at the same time I realize the advantages.
For me other features are more important:
High iso performance
smaller spot-metering
better/faster af-performance
100% viewfinder (at 0.98x :P )
weathersealing
large dynamic range
the great image quality that we modern digitaluses have come to love!
I heard the new camera will be the first to analyse your picture. If it looks out of focus, it displays a flashing message in large bold letters on the LCD "USER ERROR".
For the in focus photos, a scale out of 6 is used with the message.
- 1. For the really bad photos "This looks like crap. Delete?"
- 2. "Undecided... is it meant to look Artsy fartsy?"
- 3. "Average happy snap... keep doing this , maybe you should buy a Kodak P&S"
- 4. "Better than most of your photos"
- 5. "Great shot.......... finally"
- 6. "Would you like me to upload this for a Pulitzer "

Man, am I way off? The top priorities for me are
1) Better AF
2) better sensor/DR
Sensor/DR seems OK (50D specs), would be happy with 15MP anyways.
AF could be the deal killer though. What good are the 21MP if your AF doesn't deliver? See the 1DMkIII discussions (and that was at 10MP).
Hope that Nikon with its "everybody gets the pro-AF" trend helps Canon move into the right direction. At $2k~$3k, we need pro AF (f/2.8 cross type besides center).
Crossing my fingers ...
Alex
PS: No, I don't want a 1Ds. Keep weather seal, grip, dual card, built, 10 FPS, 1/8000 speed, 300k shutter, super duper custom functions for the pros who might have a use for it.

Hmm... Student loan goes through, I could get:
a: 5DmkII
b: 50D + 5D w/Grip
Thoughts?
Thoughts on the choice of cameras, two of which aren't available, one of which is just a rumor? Or thoughts on how you're going to pay for school after your purchase?
Wait, you mean Canon won't come with a pro grade small body camera ... a "1Ds MkIII killer", to replace the 5D? You know, new 51 pt AF, 10 FPS .... For under 2 grand? AND canon won't give me a big fat "trade in" coupon for my 1D MkIII when they launch the IV? Man, this has been a bad evening ....
Guess I'll just have to keep that old 1D Mk III ...

It is a rumor thread.
As far as school goes, I'm not worried about paying back student loans afterward. 90% scholarship, 5% grant, 5% loans. Already applied for extra so I could upgrade my 20D.

The proposed grade 6 message violates the spirit of the other messages. A more appropriate one would be e.g.
- 6. "To whom did the sucker loan this camera?"

Then I guess my thought would be, "Don't base purchasing decisions on rumors."
