Those are some terrific specs...it'd be nice if they were true! I'm already first on the list in my area for a new body (if indeed there is one)...desperately need to get out of my 1D III's for something I can rely on (and again, here's to hoping it WOULD be something I could rely on).
I swore after my MK3 experience I would never be an early Canon adopter again. I just hope my current 3yr old 5D holds up awhile longer. Who knows though... All I know, is they better get this right...I personally will not tolerate another MK3.
I am with you. I thought about how to purchase it. Build was all I was dreaming about. (then) High Iso flashed me. But I did not need 9 FPS and the resolution was far to low, compared to D5. And of course, I did not had the money. Today I am happy about. I would always wait for a quarter and make the purchase depending from testing it for some days NOW!
Spending money is lifetime one needed to earn ... lost money or anger is lost lifetime ...
Life should be pleasure, not beeing in anger. Those people creating a camera are businessmen, not photographers. If, that desaster would never have happened.
But those businessmen gave me tools to have pleasure, too. And to earn money. So I give them a second chance. With beeing carefull, off course. I think they did not want to put us over the desk. They did not know better. If they did their job, they do know better now.
canon upgraded the 40D due to mounting pressures from nikon's offerings. why would they not upgrade the 5D, now that nikon has thrown down the gauntlet in the form of the D700? (odd that nikon has been doing a lot of that lately...)
canon must upgrade it. the question is only, aside from the standards feature bumps(micro AF adjust, live view, etc), what will it offer in the realm of weather sealing, max ISO and MPs?
Guardian, thank you for creating the 5D II sticky.
Would it be too much to ask to create yet another umbrella thread, something like "Canon vs. Nikon" where their respective market shares, black-white lens count, hi ISO comparison, etc could be discussed in a sort of a quarantined way.

+1!! My suggestion earlier - the combination of the 3 stickies would pretty much take care of all the repeatedly duplicated threads ...
Northlight credits their rumor to Canon Rumor who posted this...CR gave it a credibility rating of 3 out of 5...they also had the magenta (?) 5DII labeled as a "For her" model but didn't name the creator:
"* 21.1 MP 1.0x
* DIGIC IV
* ISO 100-6400 L:50 & H:12800
* 5 FPS
* 3.2" High Resolution Screen (LCD)
* 19 point AF
* HDMI Out
* Liveview
* HD Movie Mode
* Viewfinder: 100% Coverage
* Full weather sealing
* EF Lenses only"
Bear in mind that there are 2 levels of credibility above this rumor ranking.
Another interesting snippet from the Northlight site:
"Dynamic range preservation options – Canon are putting a lot of focus into how to provide the photographer with the best options for preserving the dynamic range of the original image in both a RAW file and the 8 bit JPEG. The highlight tone preservation option on the 40D, 1D III etc was the first step. The new 'automatic brightness' options in the 50D are another, where they try and optimise the brightness of various parts of the image to reduce the dullness from shadows. Canon are planning much more in this area, down to the equivalent of varying the ISO level across the different parts of the sensor when the image is taken (easier in live view mode of course)."...Show more →
Better dynamic range may finally be right around the corner... or NOT!
This looks to be the mostly likely specs .... and I particularly like that extra 0.2" screen size! I just hope the MSRP will be $2,999 .... or not much higher than this!
