Seems like they've got a rectangle along the bottom. Maybe to avoid showing something that might spoil a surprise? Sound In jacks for vidio? Microphone jacks?
Maybe its a PS2 remote? - Oh no. That is already integrated in the alpha 900. Maybe its a torch to find your key hole at night. I had one integrated in my favorits bars advertising cigaretts lighter. That was fantastic. But its empty now (the lighter, the totch still works). But it would be useless if there is no CF to light a cigarette, isnīt it?
Might be that it does have a curved bottom with a portrait shutter button. Maybe not.....I`m sure you will say it is to small.....but that might be the point
Sony really should have brought out the camera last year... so much development has happened in the DSLR scene this year that the Sony camera just looks like an average offering.

If Canon can cram 21 megapixels into the 1Ds3 successfully with a Digic III processor, why can't they increase another 3 megapixels with Digic IV?
it's nothing to do with the digic unless all you shoot is jpgs.
it's gotta be at the sensor or read electronics....

oh really? show me one camera that is out today that can even compete with the new Sony on specs and price...
My ideal camera would be an 18MP version of the D700, with 1080p video, and slightly better layout of AF points, 6fps. If Canon can offer something close I'll be very happy.
instead of thinking in terms MPs 24 vs 21...should be thinking about IQ if a 21 MP Canon has better overall performance than a Sony 24 MP..which one would be the obvious choice unless ignorance beats out intelligence...

I will be in line right behind you with these specs. You forgot to mention the D700 price. It needs to be at or close to the price.

just because there is video in a DSLR doesnt mean its the cats meow..the more crap you have an electronic Item do other than the main thing a still image all features will suffer..why not put a cell phone in a DSLR then you have the tech nerds say oh why didnt I think of that hope you can watch youtube videos on it...can it even do the internet..cmon folks...
what is needed is accurate AF always, high enough MPs 12-21 is more than enough, ultra low noise to no noise at high ISOs 800-1600,really does one need 12,800 NO..,a screen that really shows what was taken in terms of resulution 920k is barely enough need at least a 4mp display,...but the more idiots oogle over video in a DSLR then its the end of still photography period...proof look at cell phones...no longer content on being a commuication device it has to have a camera,internet,mp3 player ect but we lap it up like puppies...and the companies will continue to turn out more crap..then everyone will say I wish film would come back.it was simple
can you imagine a 1dsmk10 with so much crap in it..the user has to take 5 minutes just to turn it to SLR mode

Actually internet *is* communication, so is SMS, as well as voice. As for film coming back, you can still shoot film, bodies are avail, as well as the actual film. I shoot film from time to time. I agree that AF is a must. I would be willing to sacrifice MP for AF
As for the new lens it looks like 72mm ring and short to me. BTW anyone taken time to float a copy of a 5d picture over the new camera? I resized till shutter release was same as well as the canon logo, interesting for comparison. The Prism looks identical size, body width is slightly wider, mode knob is shifted, hard to be 100% but looks like no integrated grip...
My thoughts on new 5d, FF 50d with 24mp and better AF same price range as 5d
I don't see anything earth shattering in the new camera and expect price may actually stay about same unless something wild like IS in body is added.
I just hope it keeps the 5D image quality and adds sensor cleaning...a few more MPs makes it even better...but without the original 5D results I'll opt for a 5D and clean the sensor manually.

They would have put IS in the 50D if they were planning to put it in the "moon" camera.
