I keep seeing people say that a hypothetical 7D will be 21MP camera, but the higher the camera number (7>5>3), the lower the specs should be.

Nope - it doen't work that way.

The "lower is better" only works when comparing the number of digits in the model name. xD > xxD > xxxD > xxxxD.

But within a particular "digit range", the higher the number, the more recent the body, and thus the better the specs.

That's why the 50D is better than the 40D, and why the 450D is better than the 300D, etc...

I can't wait, since my specialty is event horizon photography. Hawking radiation requires some bodacious optics.

That doesn't square with the 1D : 5D, or the original EOS 1 and EOS 3.

Are we getting close to critical mass now?

Surely you are not implying that if Canon releases a new 3D and a 7D .... the 7D will be the more expensive model and the 3D will be the entry-level model for FF?

Where can you actually order one (US)? I have looked around and I see a lot of mentioning of it, but nowhere that actually sells it. Or maybe I am just too tired / confused

Just a comment about the RD2000 ... I tried the PZ40X and it was not powerful enough to do a good job on bounce and I think it has a higher rating than the RD2000. It was not worth it ... 430EX was 10x better.

I almost always use just a touch of flash. By the guide number rating it should do well enough.

I found these links on Google. I know nothing of these vendors. There seem to be many retailers offering it already in the UK, not so many in the US.

One thing that I don't get about the RD2000... you'd think they would have thought to at least put in swivel ability. It would have been super simple, and I would have preferred that over the rotate-the-shoe-into-the-body feature. It's still a great-looking little flash and a great step forward for casual flash use.

Now, if G. Fong would just release a Lightsphere for this puppy...

I think a small flash even if it's not powerful enough for bouncing has its place. I have a 220EX and I like it. The only real disadvantage to the sunpak given it's purpose is the lack of high-speed sync. I think this would be nice to stuff in a pocket and use for full flash in bright sunlight.

It'll still be EOSfun without high-speed though :-)

-Glenn

p.s. I think having too much EOSfun can make someone go blind, or grow hairy palms

Anything which results from EOSfun is EOSfun. It taints that which it touches.

Good point - I think the pattern breaks down at the xD level. 1 is always best, and lower number is better than higher number.

My calculations show that only 15.5343 more posts are required before this thread reaches critical mass and collapses to a black hole.
So, in essence, a new SLR will not only make Canonites very happy, but it will also save the world… Not only will the 7D replace the 5D, it will also replace Bruce Willis.

I'm not sure we'll get there.

According to some, everything will collapse into the black hole once the Large Hadron Collider goes online this Wednesday. We're all doomed!!!

Again, its 19%. Our goverment needs it to pay their own earnings and pensions. To spend their retirements in the US. What seems better to me than buing your helicopters ...
