NO! They are not rumors, I won't let them be. It is a camera with 21.1.mp, clean ISO to 25600, 6.5 fps, shutter rated to 150K clicks, weather sealing, 51 point AF, and according to the Chinese website a 3.2 foot lcd. Pretty sweet!

Seriously though, it is a lot of fun speculating about what Canon has in the works, what the price will be and perhaps most importantly how will Canon's competitors respond. This is a great way for Canon to create a buzz about the new camera(s), amongst the people who will possibly be buying it, without

I don't think anyone should get upset with him at all, ever...he is just having EOSfun time!! GO Canon!!!

"You're government adds on 17% tax to everything"

You are quite correct on this. The government in the UK does take 17.5% VAT - bastards! I think most of it is going on the defense budget at present, its all those US helicopters we keep buying!

Can anyone remind me please when the 5D Mk2 Non Disclosure Agreement is meant to expire, thanks I can't remember, my brain is melting under the pressure of all this speculation.

I've had a horrible thought, they're not just going to release a new Rebel or something?, we are SURE there is a 5D replacement coming, aren't we?

Perhaps it's a 10000D - Canon's revolution new camera... the world's first disposable DSLR, £49 inlcuding 1Gb SD card!

True. But I think you've maybe been overindulging, it appears you've caught the EOSflu!

*lol* Probably yes. I have never gotten so caught up in new cameras before as now. I have been shooting with more or less the same kit for the past 4 years now (ok, I got a 40D earlier this year but it really isnt that far from a 20D anyway), but by December, I expect to have 2 new and significantly higher-res bodies (50D and 7D). If that isnt EOSFun, I dont know what is.

I hear you about people complaining what a disappointment the 7D will be simply b/c it doesnt match the D700 spec-for-spec. Well, that isnt going to happen. So might as well get used to hearing about "we don't need more res or lower noise, we just want better IQ" [!!].

Just saw this...

"Be the first in the UK to see Canon’s latest Digital SLR

The Canon EOS 50D will be on show at our new retail premises for TWO DAYS ONLY! Come along to the Canon Pro Open day on Tuesday 9th September and also see this most-have product on Wednesday 10th September."

I wonder if there will be more than just the 50D to show on these dates?

I won't be happy with a 7D. I want a 3D i.e. with full weather sealing and a superior AF system ...... plus a built-in flash. Okay, I threw that one in just to annoy the anti-flash folks!

Okay, allow me to clarify .... I DON'T want an integral battery grip, as I HATE grips. So no thank you .... keep your 1D/1Ds bodies. I want a pro but compact/lightweight body like the D5 or D700.

For convenience, I would also not mind a popup flash....but would not want to give up any other 5D (or followon) function to get it.

However, there are other alternatives to a "expensive and bulky pro dedicated flash unit."

Here are two:

Nissin Di28

Metz 28AF

Both of these support ETTL and are very small & light, using only 2-AAA batteries.

When I want to "go light", I prefer the Canon 220EX, which while it is slightly bigger and heavier (4-AA batts) it is still quite small & light....and also supports high speed sync and has near-IR red light AF assist, which I do

As I have posted elsewhere on this forum .... HALF the size and weight of this SB-400 would be terrific. The SB-400 is still too bulky for me.

Exactly. Isn't that big fat bottom part of the 1 series body just for the huge battery? Seems it shouldn't be too challenging to put a smaller battery in a "gripless" body with many of the abilities of the 1 series retained. Oh, wait, that would be the 5D. I love what the 1 series cams can do, but I don't own any because I dislike the huge, heavy body. I have large hands, but I don't want a grip; I have never used a grip on any of the Canon dslr's that I have owned.

Would Canon, when everybody is expecting a 5D successor, use the marketing term "Future of Photography", yet introduce (only) a camera with a higher model number ("7D")?

I would love a small form factor body WITH vertical shutter-grip. IT would maybe look a bit weird though.. :P

i took them off my server since i decide the whole thing was dumb and that they were just either a taped 5D or a 5D obscured by mpeg artifacting (although there is a SMALL chance it is the new 5D)

Personal preference, many photographers, myself included find that the batterygrip, or preferably the PRO bodies add better balance to the package. A 5D or a D300/D700 with a 70-200 or even a 300 f/2.8 balances quite badly and can be a pain to operate handheld for a long period of time. More so than any of the PRO bodies. I find it more important to have good balance in the camera compared to loose weight. Personal preference :-)
