Yes.. when I mention internal memory, I don't mean that would be exclusive. It would be supplemental to the CF slot. I like the idea of redundant memory in the cases of failed CF cards, etc.

You know what I'd love to see, but probably won't? 1.6x crop sRaw mode at 8-10 MP with the crop lines marked in the viewfinder. Two cameras in one. Though I guess I could just buy a focus screen with said crop lines and crop myself... Or just frame loose...
Actually, there is no need for a 1.6x mode (or crop lines) unless you want to include the capability to use EF-S lenses.
If you have a 21mp camera...and are "focal length limited" at full frame, you can crop...jpeg or raw...and get the equivalent of an ~8mp 1.6 camera (~40% of FF). This would give you your "2 for 1" relative to a 20D/30D...and almost a 40D, but would be less resolution that you would get with the 50D....but might make one think of cost value of a 1.6 camera for the "reach"...frankly a question I am asking myself.
No to both. Don't really see the need of internal memory. Already have my share of CF cards. I like the current 5D with the optional grip. If I am at an event shoot, I put on the grip to ease portrait orientation photos. When I go trekking, grip comes off, L-bracket goes on and I'm all set without the excess bulk or weight the grip would have.

I know. At 21MP it's a 30D and a FF camera in one, and there's not a great deal of point in throwing away the edges of the image except with respect to data throughput. It would be nice to have a guide for this, but it would probably lead you to tend to shoot for 1.6x even when you're not consciously trying to. How do Nikon do their crop factor mode?
The main reason for this desire, by the way, is simply to make single lenses more versatile, basically. So a single 35mm prime can be both a normal and a wide. A 50mm prime can be a normal and a short tele, etc. Mostly, however, I want to use my 24-105mm in crop mode, as I find the vignetting and distortion on FF turns me off using it, despite having a good copy which performed beautifully on my 30D a few years ago.. I understand that DPP will automatically fix these issues nearly perfectly, though, so perhaps I just need to install that.
Yep. Don't like either. I definitely want a body with the form factor of the 5D... I will not buy a camera with a built in grip, and I doubt Canon will be making one. Also, I have never, ever plugged my camera into a computer, so I'm not interested with on camera memory.
Nope, don't like either features, being able to take the extra battery grip off for a smaller camera is one of the benefits of the 5d
16gb of memory? nah, built in memory is a bad idea. Flash ram wears out after a certain number of read/write cycles and you would have to send it back to canon to get your memory fixed if you hit that limit or if you just got a bad spot on yours.

Isn't it better to just have a dual card slot? Later cards could take advantage of faster speeds. In addition, you often wouldn't know a card had failed until you tried to get the files off of it, by which time you may have shot much more than 16GB worth of images.

Given the hysteria around here, just releasing the dam camera would push it ahead of Nikon and send the forum into meltdown.
lol totally agree...its crazy the amount of time and effort some put into talking about a camera that is not even out...I have been just lurking around the gear forums recently and i am so surprised how bad it is here...but who am i to judge
If these two features were offered, along with what people are already speculating about the 5DII, it will be an absolute no-brainer. Something gells me we won't see either of these two features. Is anybody else interested in seeing these?
No, could care less about either of those features.

They already did the built-in grip. It's called a 1DsMk3.
I don't care for both as well. I like the idea of being able to either get a faster firing power with the grip for fast action shots or get a lighter and less bulky body for travel, like jcolwell and jvarszegi mentioned previously.
one of the nice things about the 5d is it doesnt have a built in grip! you can go for a small size factor but take all the quality with you!
internal memory! NO THANK YOU. Its much faster to read a card in a card reader than to dump it out. Besides I would rather they pour money into sensor technology than onboard storage.
To each there own however, because I really really want to see High-Def 1080P video in he next generation of canon Slr's and that right there is enough to start a holler on this thread
