And now? How many days? :P It can't have an add like that until photokina, that is like 18-20 days? THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING THE KITTEN IN THE FAN BEFORE THE LADY SINGS!
From CanonRumors:
1Ds Mark IV to be released
February 2009
32 Megapixel FF sensor
Dual Digic IV processors
ISO from 50 - 12800 + H1(25600) + H2(51200)
5.5 FPS
60 JPG Continuous Shooting
19 Raw Continuous Shooting
slightly larger AF area compared to the Mk III
920,000 pixel LCD screen
Something about a fuel cell too.
Besides the fuel cell, which is pure BS, this scares me A LOT. I want a 5D/3D upgrade now, not in February. Been waiting for too long already.
Scenario A: 1 Prosumer FF. All is well, we get 5D upgrade now. Don't care if it is 18 or 21 MP, but we get Pro AF and weather sealing. That's most of what I care about.
Scenario B: 2 Prosumer FF. Bad news. We get the 7D now (<21MP, not hurting 1Ds), and the 3D when it cannot damage the 1Ds with 3D & 1DsMkIV released in February.

Without measuring it, it looks somewhat like a 5D but also different. On the (old) 5D, the wheel is outside the 4th button, with this camera it's between the 3rd and 4th. To me it seems the viewfinder is larger and higher in proportion. Or the camera is smaller and less wide.
Or this might have an onboard flash .......(sorry to scare you!)
(what a waste that'd be for me, I'd opt for a higher end full framer if this was the case).

I think you need scenario C which is more than likely what you're going to get. That's a 50d with a FF sensor... IOW, nothing special....
Canon's "evolution" ad says to me, and some others, that it's business as usual... For 4 years now Canon has in effect said, -pop a new sensor in there, cut every other usable feature down from good to just OK or delete it completely, put a new number on it and sell it like it's the best they can do....
you may get a better plastic bag for weather sealing, and we may see 4 FPS on the new sensor, but the 5d is, always has been, and will remain an amateur level camera. We all know the IQ is will probably be very good, but I'm still not optimistic they've changed their ways regarding their product philosophy, which is 1 series uber alles.....
PMA 2009 is when the real changes will occur to the 1 series, and there won't be any 3d coming is my guess...

Interesting, clearly Canon is playing with us. There is a flash, it is not the 50D with a much taller viewfinder.
Well, the snapshot photographers won this round. It looks like we'll be saddled with a crappy flash. I could have lived without some other things, as long as they didn't add that....
-17 if they added a flash...
Update - perhaps what looks like the flash (break in continuity of prism housing) is instead just a break in the housing to the front face plate. Now that would be a good sign.....

The 5d evolution. 100% pure fabrication based on rumors and now the teaser images.
5d Mark II to be released
September 2008
16-21 Megapixel FF sensor
Single Digic IV processor
ISO from 50 - 12800 + H1(25600) + H2(51200)
Built in flash (God I hope not....but if so, guaranteed to ruin any photo)
Improved weather protection (2 Ziploc double sealed storage bags vs. 1 bag with the old 5d?)
95% VF with .70 magnification (left over from the previous 5d run. consistent or proper alignment not guaranteed, just like the original)
4.0 FPS (gotta protect the 1 series pricing)
40 JPG Continuous Shooting
15 Raw Continuous Shooting
same AF in the current 5d (maybe an extra cross point or two)
920,000 pixel LCD screen (we looked everywhere, but all the cheaper ones were gone)
Price - as much as we can possibly get for this thing or $2999..

Is there a flash? I can't see that for certain?
If you check the caption of this by dpreview you can clearly see the outline of the flash (and the D700 has one, as well of the old film bodies) : link
Here is their comment : "Canon has just added a mysterious teaser to its US website. The page shows a silhouette of a camera with the words 'Destined Evolution.' Maybe it will be updated to include more detail in the future, we don't know. It's almost as if the company is building up to the launch of a camera to replace one of its older models. We have no specific information but it doesn't require any profound market insight to predict an EOS 5D replacement is coming."
I do not believe a word of the end, several posts here and elsewhere suggests that the 5D replacement has been shipped for evaluation.
