That is indeed the 1 series viewfinder shape. Not the same as the original 5d at all.
Perhaps this is a 1DmarkIII successor. Wouldn't be surprised to see that fairly soon. Then they'll just happen to announce a 5D successor at the same time.
I'm as excited as the next person at the prospect of a new 5D, but I've just been looking at the Evolution site, and the moon is nowhere near full, and the camera is still shadowy.
Are we absolutely sure Canon aren't going to make us wait another week or two?

The mode dial just throws me off. Otherwise I would have thought we were looking at a 1d3N or something.
they have now blocked off the whole part where the mode dial is and where it said EOS on the moon pic.
very odd
also the buttons are very moved to the front of the cam like the eos 1v

IMHO, the answer to that question is no. We *hope* that something will be announced soon but the only really compelling deadline for announcement is Photokina & that's still a week away I believe (I think it begins on the 23rd) which means that we *could* wait up to a week for an new product announcement (whatever it turns out to be).
No matter what the 5D replacement looks like or its specs, one can't deny Canon's amazing ability to keep this thing from leaking right up to the announcement. Simply amazing! How is that possible?
