Klukkan er það sama í Hollandi (hjá þér) og í Skandinavíu. Hvers vegna ertu að segja góða nótt við þá núna?

Of course there will be - it's a question of when. I can't wait another 6 months!

Ok..since I haven't scrolled through the 100+ pages of this thread- did anyone notice that on the canon USA site- it now has the "destined evolution" ad rotating at the top? It's not just on the foreign sites anymore..

Brainiac, I can't see how Canon could introduce a FF camera for the price of 50D, since it would need to offer at least the same as 50D in Digic IV, VF, AF, etc..., plus bear the extra cost associated with FF.

But Canon is further down the full frame sensor path than any competitor, so it should be reaping economies. The low end full frame camera could even have a sensor like that in the current 5D, but just have liveview and a couple of other updates, a cheap shutter and a slowish frame rate. I'm thinking of a full frame version of the 1000D, perhaps in the existing 5D body style. The main goal would be to produce the cheapest full frame body they can, while getting over a couple of the obsolescenses found in the current 5D, and selling it at the current 5D price point, in order to continue growing the full frame audience and sell more L lenses, which is the real point. They only need to do enough to convince a significant number of people to buy this camera instead of a used 5D. It would depress the used price of a 5D, but Canon shouldn't care about that, since that will also sell more L lenses.

No. The 5D mark II (if that's what it's called), will be significant enough. Canon will then dip a new FF 1D down closer in price, reducing the gap.

If the 50D lists now for US$1300, this "FF50D" might cost US$1950 IMHO. Still a very convincing price, and a very different animal from the Nikon D300.
Then an upmarket prosumer FF, a baby 1 series, if you will, would compete against the D700 at around US$3000 list , but with almost double the resolution...

If there will be 3 cameras in FF, they will reach from € 1700-2200-2600 :-)
Means Street prices about 1500-2000-2400.

50D needs no FF and ill not get one. Its the crop-segment. And D300 is beaten already beaten by 50D. It does not need any FF. 50D is already € 300 less than D300 after 1 year at trustfull dealers, befor it hits the shelves. At enhanced resolution and compareable IQ (if not better, what is my feeling after comparing high Iso samples. In lower Iso even 40D was imo still better.

It does not matter if 1, 2 or three 5D succesor will come. All of them will have higher resolution and better IQ than all Canons and existing competitors at lower or comparable prices. The question is, if Canon follows Nikon with putting features like weather sealing to their midrange and semipro stuff. If they do so ... fine

The picture of the 7D on the Box is showing only prefab settings on the dial. No creative modes at all. If you notice it is all the small icons, No M, AV, TV, P. Because of this, I believe these pictures from Netherlands or wherever to be false.

If you add to that gapless or near gapless microlens design you'd have a very nice camera at a price most could afford. I personally hate the plastic design and control layout of the Rebel series, but a camera like this would certainly change the game.

I do not think so. It would not be an announcement without specs and pics I guess.

Brainiac, your concept of a low-cost FF camera has merit IMHO, but I don't think that it is what Canon are about to release. It would be a somewhat specialised product, either as a second body for pros, or for amateurs not wanting to spend more, whereas the amount of teasing, as well as the tagline "destined eveolution" suggest some form of step improvement across the board, just as 5D was in its time. A "no-frills FF" would be clever packaging, and a great play for competitiveness, but not exactly an evolution, or an improvement...

It'll be a 5D replacement. Just look at the teaser. I suspect that's all we're going to get this time around. I think the next release (Jan/Feb 2009) will be a FF 1D.

More and more indications on weather sealing (buttons, bump). I'm a happy camper. I'm even planning to go early to bed, so I can rise early to check out the eventual news (I'm a scandinavian myself, so I live in the right time zone :P )
