Canon will not make the same mistake twice. A lot of heads will roll if that should happen.

The thing is, has anyone actually considered that it may disappoint in a big way!? Canon's recent track record on bodies isn't great, and I'm expecting the worst. If we get something great, brilliant, but I'm not holding my breath. I think people should talk themselves down of the precipice in preparation for the great unknown. Just my 2p.

Yeah, Canon really clamped down hard on those few that seemed to know something 3 weeks ago - they suddenly went quiet. A good example is crivera, who at the beginning of august correctly identified the date of the 50D as well as the 15mp. He made 2 posts on sept 4th about the 5dm2 and then hasn't posted again. His last post is very much in line with my expectations of what the 5dm2 is likely to have w/r to 50D- more MP and 1 stop better noise than the 50D, but otherwise similar AF/build/non-weatherproofing/etc.
The title of this thread, rumors/rumours, should give the hint that they're giving one thread for this. For people not to keep opening more threads about nothing.

Ironically, I was accused of this very act some 20 years ago when I started working out and eating like a pig. Unfortunately, the "eating like a pig" part stuck, but the 'workout' part lost some ground over the last couple of years.

What bothers me is that there is no detail about the AF, so I'll assume its the same as the 50D. The other thing that bothers me is the 4 FPS, I was hoping for 5 FPS. Lets see...

If it's just a 5d with more MP and live view and auto clean I'm going to be very disappointed. There's no reason to upgrade if that's the case...
I've seen about 3 or 4 posts that support his statement, and I tend to believe it to be true. Some of the details are a bit obscure - one says it'll have a 19-point AF system. Another says 1080i movie mode. We'll wait and see just what is offered on the 5D2, but I can assure y'all that Canon IS feeling the pressure from its competitors.
