Seems to me that people who worry about camera features will never be happy regardless of what they are using.
Seems to me that you are mistaken That is a very werird attitude to have imo.
"what, you care about brakes, steering, that the seats are comfortable and such non-important stuff? The only thing that matters is horsepower!"
a simple car analogy will show you that caring about what feature set you get, compared to similarly priced competitors is quite wise, not stupid as you imply.
And it gives the Canon press office a few days (Mon and Tues) to invent/write some drivel/copy for the Wednesday release. These boys aint gonna work over the week end now are they....I mean it's only a camera...not like a photocopier or Something

And those who still have a 5D will be in trouble when a replacement finally comes.
I'm presuming you were kidding - please correct me if I'm wrong. If the 5D replacement comes as we will still have the same great camera we had previously!

Unless it has a 24mp gapless sensor reaching 100k iso...okay maybe we need to wait for the mk3
16mp +/-
weathersealing
4-6 fps
better af, more af-points, more spread af-points
spot-metering at af-points
iso 100-12800 (50-25600 extendable, usable at iso6400)

That's what I've been saying across the board in different forums. Though your current 5D might stop working when the new one is annouced.
Sorry, I must confess I've stopped following this thread very closely so I may have missed them - & clearly missed the intended sarcasm in the one I responded to.
I have to question your timing though. My guess is things will gradually start to fall off after announcement date & by shipping date it will be virtually unusable.
There is a need to a small body 1 series. But don't blame the 5D II. By definition the 5D does not have all the pro features, but it does have a similar sensor.
The 50D does have upgraded AF, BTW. Many people just seem to count the AF points.

That is all I want :P Is that too much to ask?
So your saying you hope they don't replace the 5D, but make a small 1series? I hope they replace the 5D.
Like the Nikon D700 a small 1 series would need to be something like 12mp. Since Canon can only do a bit less than 100mps in a small body.
By who's definition .... and why can't Canon rewrite the rules in order to gain a competitive edge over Nikon?

This is as rediculous as saying that an exceedlingly fine grain film like EFKE-25 (or Pan-X for you old timers) is diffraction limited. Diffraction is a function of the lens aperture, folks, not the sensor (or film) resolution. A higher resolution sensor may be able to reveal the effects of diffraction better than a lower resolution sensor, but that is no different than a higher resolution sensor being able to reveal a lack of sharpness (or other optical imperfections) of any given lens better than a lower resolution sensor.

Wow .... this thread has more than 200,000 hits!
So with all of us checking this rumor thread all of the time, what are the chances of actually getting one when it comes out? I've asked BH if they have a waiting list for the new 5D and they said no, because they weren't even sure how many they are going to get. God, this sounds like an iPhone scenario. Maybe I just wait a few months until someone like Steve Jobs brings the price down.

I hope they have a bunch ready when they release it...
