I wouldn't take this French site too seriously. They obviously make a business of posting advance info, correct or not. And then they say" info is not contractual", "price to be announced", etc...
It's called the 5DmkII & the 7D
It's 16, 18, 21 & 24mp
It's got 9 & 19 AF
It's got max ISO of 6400, 12800 & 25600
It has & it hasn't got a built in grip
It has & it hasn't got video
It's somewhere between 3 & 6.5 FPS
It has & it hasn't got a pellicle mirror
It has & it hasn't got eye controlled focus
Have I missed anything?
In other words, we actually know as much about the 5D replacement as we did when the original 5D was released!
Smoke has cleared and now it shows the Canon logo, And the "EOS" Badge and more lens detail.
From what I see, It does look similar to the pic StreetJester posted (If you don't believe me, Go to the Canon Destined Evolution site, Take a screen shot and run it through PS Yourself). Looks like a 50D with no built in flash (I was looking at a similar pic of the 50D and comparing them).
I wonder what that lens mounted to the camera is??

This is the .png pulled straight from the current flash file and enhanced a bit... There's very little image data at the bottom...

but when you duplicate the layer a bunch of times, you can start to see shape.. Could be real, could be trickery. take it how you like :-)

is it just me or the lens/mount is a bit offset to the left side?
man, this thread is fast multiplying considering it's young exsistence..

But there are some sites that are more reliable than others, If they're wrong they are sincerely wrong.
Northlight is often quoted as a source, but its mostly a summary of forum posts. Then engaget quotes Northlight. Circular rumours.
I believe the French site has a source they deem credible. That person could be mistaken or lying, but at least its a real source. Maybe.

So you are selling Canon are not going to sell a camera with the French specs for that price? Or for the French specs and 1 series AF, for that price?
I believe the most optimistic expectation is that French spec is real, including the price. I believe it is overly optimistic to believe Canon will also include 50 pt AF at that price.
What I was also saying is that is the 5DII rumor thread. By definition a 5 series camera does not have all top of the line features, Discussion of Canon building a better D700 is not in the true scope of the thread.
That would be a 3D or 1VD thread. O.K. 1VD is probably not a good choice. How about the "Canon, I want everything top-of-the-line, cheap, and in a small body" thread?

It is a rumour thread, sure a 5D replacement whatever thread, comparison with the D700 cannot be avoided. Saying that by definition a 5 series camera does not have all the top of the line features, in my opinion, is a waste of time. Had a Nikonian said 2 years ago, well one day a Dx00 series body will have Dx series AF they would have put him in a straight jacket before getting to the . !

I think at the time the 5D was released we expected a 16mp 5DII in 2007. Canon probably expected this too. But funny things happen when Canon found it was not driving the market.
We can all have a good laugh if the 5DII really does turn out to be 16mp.

It is a direct competitor in that many non-pro photogs likely will decide between the two cameras.

If the 5DII comes out with 50D sensor tech (gapless microlenses, etc.) at 16MP and a D700 type feature set, a lot of people (including me) will be very, very happy. I'll laugh for joy, and of course chagrin at all those crazy 24MP rumors.
Some Asian countries will be celebrating the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival next week. This is when the moon is at it's brightest, Maybe the Destined evolution and it's full moon has something to do with that?? Maybe the 7D Will be announced on the day where the moon will be at it's brightest!! (It would go along with the previous rumours of a September 17 Announcement).

Canon made an attempt to respect the 'S' in ISO. We had low and high, which are apparently not 'standard' enough to be called ISO. But that's 'throw out the window' with Nikon and its crazy post capture processing. So now Canon will call it ISO25600, even though they would rather not.
i'm not sure what you mean....as the d700 settings below the native 200 are lo 1, lo 0.7, and lo 0.3 and above 6400, there are four hi settings going from hi 0.3 to hi 2.......so technically, nikon doesn't designate anything that falls outside of the native 200-6400 iso range by a numerical iso either.

According to most of the people on Earth, the next full moon is Sept 15, 9am UTC, or 6pm JST
However, the 15th (Monday) is a national holiday here ... (Respect for the elderly Day) and Canon will be closed. But who knows, they may have installed an unattended system, or some engineer will come and switch the page this very day... or ... Tuesday!
Yep, September 15 is the next full moon. So the announcement could well be sometime next week, Hopefully on the 15th (Isn't Zeiss also meant to be announcing their new ZE Lenses on the 15th?).
I was looking closely at the Silhouette of the lens in the teaser shots, Looks similar to the 16-35 Mk II, It does also look a bit wider then the usual lens (82mm filter thread size) Maybe Canon will release a 17-40 Mk II With the 5D Mk II Perhaps??
The teaser body sure looks like a 5D. I hope not, as I want a 3D! But that lens is too big to be a 50/1.4. It looks more like a 14-24/2.8. Wishful thinking, or should I say positive thinking!
