A rotatable sensor would be even better.

Edit: Maybe that's what we don't see at the bottom: a circular extension of the body that gives space for the sensor to rotate into vertical position. Et voila!

Another edit: And that's why the japanese website put this big lens in front of it.

Talking about vertical sensors... I think it would be better to have a 1:1 sensor. You can then use a little quick dial to select what ratio you want... 1:1, 2:1, 3:2, 4:3, 1:2, 2:3, 3:4, etc.

I wonder what lens is attached to that body... looks like it uses a big fat filter.

Oh, yes and having a rotating or 1:1 Mirror and VF prisma, too. Nice idea. That is why they only show the front. Because the cameras dephts is same like height and the surprise would have gone ...

I still wonder what big secret is attached to the lens ;-)

It's already there in the 40D and 450D at least! Just press the info button in the Live view mode.

But still for a while I had these friends
To cheer me through the end of spring....
I sang. The moon encouraged me.
I danced. My shadow tumbled after.
As long as I knew, we were boon companions.

It was worth reading this entire thread just to chance upon that.

We are getting closer! NO built in grip.
I'm just passing the info along, looks plausible with the moon teasers.
I also think its a photochop moon capture and the old 5D photo.

If that picture is correct, then the 5D MkII is a small camera. Own a 40D, and, on it, the 50 f:1.4 looks relatively smaller than on this cam. My take of this: the picture is not correct. Either Canon, wants to mislead, or it is a fake. I also don't believe the name. Teasing so much prior to the release of a "MkII", after slipping a all-new 50D in the dark of August? Doesn't sound likely.

I do not see that.

Well Herr Conway, look closer. The buttons seem small - like on the 1D’s.

Looks fake to me, too. How in the world would the letters on the right side of the image be so crisp and bright when all the rest of that side is very dark and lacking in any detail.

Definite photochop.

Hm ...
They do not to me. But I already got old eyes.

Appending to my dealers info the (original) NDA is finished after today. I read somewhere (think it was "nortlight" or "dpreview" if not here) Canon tried to enlhance it till next week.
If they did not, or did not get everybody convinced, we might hear some more information BEFORE the ("official") announcment on 17th press conference.

If not, its only another 5 days ... uahhhhhhhhhhhh!

I’m sure the 50/1.4 and 5D and Mark II are photoshopped on, and the EOS letters are brightened up. Still, shows us more of the camera otherwise.

:-) of course. compared to 50D and based on FF it should have ISO 6400 native. Enhanced 2times would make 25600. But I would love to see how 6400 does look like.

Or are you talking about 25600 NATIVE?

Look at the chopped bottom of the northlight image. It seems to be an enhancement of the flash image. So the 50 1.4 on the lens is added too. The lens is not likely a 50 1.4.

The grip portion does seem thicker, although perhaps its just the light angle. If the camera has video, the physical battery is probably bigger. Either way, it's lithium.

No, native is 100. It's probably two stops boosted in software. So the loss of two stops dynamic range. Playing the game Nikon started.

I'm not sure how Canon could do this without going to an EVF which almost no one wants, but if they could give us the ability to see either a RGB or luminance histogram prior to releasing the shutter, it would be a step forward.

Probably not going to happen, but a cool option none the less.

Is that faster than taking a shot and adjusting the exposure?
