You have created an illusion. Canon does not make lenses that are flattened on the underside.
I don't know about anyone else, but the end of that lens screams 24-70 to me. Maybe the long awaited fast, mid range, IS zoom? Just a thought. I will go back to lurking now.

All good, but the 28 f2.8 is the least impressive of Oly's 28's. Try the f3.5.
"From a pot of wine among the flowers
I drank alone. There was no one with me –
Till, raising my cup, I asked the bright moon
To bring me my shadow and make us three.
Alas, the moon was unable to drink
And my shadow tagged me vacantly;
But still for a while I had these friends
To cheer me through the end of spring....
I sang. The moon encouraged me.
I danced. My shadow tumbled after.
As long as I knew, we were boon companions.
And then I was drunk, and we lost one another.
...Shall goodwill ever be secure?
I watch the long road of the River of Stars."
This is a direct translation, unfortunately, so it may have lost some impact as in the case of all translations.
After looking at Panasonic's new PK announcement (DPR), one very desirable new feature that would be welcome by most of us (I think) is a live view histogram. I'm not sure how Canon could do this without going to an EVF which almost no one wants, but if they could give us the ability to see either a RGB or luminance histogram prior to releasing the shutter, it would be a step forward.
Probably not going to happen, but a cool option none the less.
