Speaking of rounded blades, here's some more Ultron love @ f/2.8 on FF.

Quite a mess, but I actually like it! Even though there is a bright outline to the blur discs, the edges are smooth. What is worse is the LCA. Look at the greenish glow in the transitions from light to dark in the sweater of the guy to the right.

It makes me dizzy.

Please do, I look forward to it.

It was a toss up between the old grandpa SSC and the FD L, I'm glad I went for the SSC instead, considering how close in price they were.

The octagonal aperture iris can be found on many 8-bladed versions, including the new EF L I and II, but 9 blades exclusively hold something special to the SSC version.

I agree. This was one of the reasons I chose this one over the FD L. I also think this version has better CA control.

I have tons of stuff to go through from the wedding, but here are a couple that show some admirable blur and the shockingly good wide-open performance of this lens:

http://www.cogitech.ca/photos/SSC_Asph/hands.jpg

And a 100% crop, to show what I mean (I think this was f1.4, actually):

I can only imagine what the EF would have done to this watch. Absolutely no CA reduction or correction of any sort has been done here. What little you do see is SOOC.

Thanks! I have so much more stuff, just not sure if I want to post it... Maybe it would be better to post it in the wedding forum?

I give up ... your 100% crop is sharper than my full images

I just found this series. These are SOOC, no curves or anything. 85/1.2 SSC Asph. all wide open on 5D.

This was the first time they saw each other on their wedding day:

I ( like to think I ) sort of know how to get the best out of 5D files too. Keep that in mind.

Paul, you've driven the price of that lens up enough!

I'm still looking for a sensational 35/1.4 though. I have a thing for this focal length, it works out well for street photography.

I've been very impressed by the Leica Summilux-R but it does require quite a mirror shave.

this is wide open straight from RAW with just a little auto tone in lightroom:

Wow Paul nice wedding shots, clearly showcasing what that 'little' lens could do and how well you can tame it!

Took me a good 2s to figure out what SOOC means.

Thrice that shot looks very nice, I've been considering offerings from Nikon and Leica and Zeiss alike (f1.4 versions), but I'll keep an eye for the f2.0 lenses as well (Zuikos included). Is CA an issue for the Lux? From the look of it the Lux has better WO bokeh than Nikkor 35/1.4, which suffers from harsh highlight circles.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's interesting that Japanese people have bad teeth even in Canada.

They aren't Canadian. They'll be back in Japan in a few days, after their honeymoon in Niagra Falls.

I'm not offended, but I am certain they would be.

Yeah like I said Japanese people in Canada, not Canadians of Japanese decent. Anyway dental care is slow, but pretty affordable here, yet in my 6 years of living here I've never seen so many people with teeth rotting out of their mouths. Anyway, excellent results!

I'm still confused. Do your teeth change when you visit another country?

I use Bibble Pro 4.10 with some custom tone curves which simulate provia, velvia and portra (depending on situation). I then tweak WB till the skin tones are perfect (or close to perfect), and I also have a plugin for Bibble that allows me to work directly on the skin tones, removing reddish or greenish hues, etc., if necessary.

I have not done so on the series I posted of the B&G meeting, which is why they still have more of a "Canon digital" look (actually not as bad as they can be sometimes), whereas the flower and hands shots don't.

People just don't take care of their teeth in Japan and there is no fluoride in the water, those two conditions equal awful teeth in Japan.
