p.12 #1 · CyberSync Review..

Hi all - just getting up to speed with radio syncs - looking at the main brands that everyone seems to be aware of in this forum. CyberSyncs look great.

Can I ask - will the CyberSyncs sync at 1/320s? (The max flash sync shutter speed on my D700). Also if I've understood this correctly - Nikon FP (higher speed focal plane) sync is out of the question right? Since this requires TTL communication with the camera in order to slow the flash burst duration which in turn is needed to cover the travelling shutter curtains as they travel (top opening and lower closing) across the sensor (there's no single point where the shutter is wide open).

Also any suggestions as to how I might get a set of CyberSyncs here in Thailand? I have friends in Canada and the USA so may be able to order there and have them sent over.

I got my Cybersyncs a few weeks ago but I only got a chance to use them recently. I find them well built and they do the job. Thanks for freeing me from the cords

One thing I'd like to say to Paul as I know he is watching this thread. I know you have a high volume etc etc that cannot allow this but please ship USPS instead of UPS to Canada. BH does it. I did not want to pay the UPS brokerage fees so hopefully I was offer by a fellow FMer in the US that he purchased the syncs and then forwarded them to my by post. I was glad but that's far from practical.

I got my Cybersyncs last week. I live in Canada (Calgary) and selected the UPS Worldwide Saver feature. This cost me 33.60 for shipping on top of my 200.00 order, plus when they arrived UPS still wanted a cheque for 12.10

Yeah 45.00 for shipping kind of sucks... but I also didn't pay any sales tax on this order, and they shipped to me incredibly fast. I sent in my order online on Sunday night and my Cybersyncs were at my doorstep on Tuesday, that's just about next day service to Canada considering the order wasn't processed until Monday.

oh yeah... the Cybersyncs are great, totally worth it. I almost bought the Elinchrom Skyports, but now I'm glad I didn't. I love the size and design of the Cybersyncs, I only wonder if I should have ordered a couple more recievers... oh well... next time

These Cybersyncs, help me out here. It seems like they could be used to fire flashes (like 580EX or SB800) or strobe (such as an AB800).

So they are essentially much more affordable pocket wizards? If that's the case, Uncle Sammy is buying me some stuff here.

Interesting too, because I've been looking into PW's or even cheap ebay triggers. From what it appears these seem to be the best medium to go with, better quality and better product than some no name eBay trigger, and more affordable than a PW.

I really foresee a heavy purchase in the near future.

I got a CST and CSRB for Christmas and I've used them to fire an AB800 as well as a 580exII without any problems. I'm a fan but for now I still go wired for high-speed sync and second curtain sync-

RobertLynn and Elader. You use the Cybersync to fire your flash just like you would attach it to Pocket Wizard. You connect the Transmitter (CST) to your camera hotshoe and connect the Receiver (CSRB) to the little adapter shown below and your flash will also be connected to the Receiver too.

You need this little connector below, same you would have used with pocket wizard.. look at the adapter below, it speaks for itself.

Yeah I don't think the 580exI's have a PC port, but my mkII does so that's how I connect the CSRB.

For the 580EX you can also get this :

It's also an easy DIY if you have the tools :

the csrb comes with a cord for the alien bee lights and another one to use with the 580ii - it just plugs right in to any flash with the pc port (they set the flash to manual and you are ready to go)

OK, I added the ports to my 580s, but I tell you I was not happy with soldering on the little circuit board. All I keep thinking of is the next wedding.....

So..... I went and ordered two of the flashzebra assemblies.

Ok well. At least I can assume they are soldered correctly.

And Buff shipped my CybrSyncs already (yay!)

The flashzebra assemblies are out of stock now... does anyone else sell these?
I ordered my CyberSyncs and had totally forgotten that my 580 needed the conversion. I may just buy the Vivitar...

Thanks

Would this work with a Cyber Sync?

Excuse the dumb questions, I'm rather new at this... Trying not to buy something only to find out later that none of the cords match up!
