Would this work with a Cyber Sync? http://www.paramountcords.com/Ycord4PW.asp
Excuse the dumb questions, I'm rather new at this... Trying not to buy something only to find out later that none of the cords match up!
The attached cord provides a sync connection to a Pocket Wizard, an Elinchrom Skyport receiver or a CyberSync receiver.
Got my cybersyncs today as well. Work very well and fire every time. An off switch would make them better than they are, but I dont mind pulling the batteries for storage. Happy to reliably sync at 1/200 on my 5d with zero issues.
I just got mine last week, but I forgot to order the adapter for the 580, so I just got that in a couple days ago and so far I'm loving 'em! I agree an off-switch would just make me feel better.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can use to hold the receiver in place on the lightstand or flash or something?
Silly question but I assume a CSRB+ can be triggered by a CST? While I don't need the + features now, for an extra $20 if I ever do get AB lights I'd like to be ready to go with the addition of a CyberCommander.
Yes. Using the CSRB+ will give you metering and unlimited grouping even with no PCB lights from the Cyber Commander. From the CST it will fire all lights on the same frequency and that's it.
Much obliged Paul and Bobby. Paul, thanks for coming up with a reliable radio trigger that mere mortals (translated: amateurs) can feel good about purchasing. I mean, how many times does *anyone* need to trigger 1700 feet away?
I only have one problem. When I try to use a flash on camera, the flash lock up. I have a d-80 and it hasn't got a pc terminal. I know that I have to put a new battery in the CST to avoid that. But, thatīs the only solution? and Does anyone know how much time the new battery will be effective and not start freezing the flash again?
had mine since its come out and loving it so far.
i just wish there was an actual on and off switch as the receivers turn on when they get bumped in my bag.
so i have to always take the batteries out...

Do you have one of the newer models with the flush-set switch? Some people are shaving down the switch themselves.
Just some quick real world experience with the CST and CSRB+.
Reliability of firing. Perfect!
Small little irks:
On the CSRB+ the battery door has a little tab that you spring forward to get to the batteries. If you open the door and then reseat the door the tab doesn't spring back and the door will just fall off the next time you flip over the CSRB+. You have to remember to manually push this little tab forward. Once you do this the battery door stays in place.
The CST needs an on/off switch. It's just plain silly. Here is one scenario.
We're doing a wedding. The CST is attached to the camera via a PC outlet and firing a big strobe (AB1600) mounted high up to provide some room light (one stop under ambient) when we want it. We're using speedlites for key/fill. However, sometimes we want to switch to dance shots that have more of a "club" feel and use just two speedlites (one on camera) and the other being an assistant with a light on a stick. To kill the AB1600 you have to unplug the cord from the camera. It would make more sense just to switch off the CST, but there is no ON/OFF button.
For some reason the CSRB+ was used on one senior portrait session and then on the second session (1 week later) the batteries were dead. It took use awhile to figure out. In case anyone cares, it would fire one time (using the test button the CST) and then nothing. I would fiddle for awhile and try it again and it would fire one time and then nothing. Finally, we tried changing batteries and we were back in business.
Don't know if the batteries it shipped with were weak or if the CST button was being accidently pressed (have the older model with the non-flush button) in the bag repeatedly. So now we remove the AA's at the end of each shoot.
