This is my second roll of FP4+ I've shot, and despite all the gushing from many people, I just really don't care for it. The grain is as big as something like Tri-X, but the contrast profile isn't as good as Tri-X, and you don't get the speed benefit from it either, so I'd much rather use Tri-X. I think I'll be sticking with things like Acros, Tmax and Delta for my 100 speed films. The final results here look fine, but I did a fair amount of post processing with selective curves to get the contrast to look how I would like it.

If I do another roll of FP4+, I'll try it in HC110, but I really don't want to add a third developer, mostly due to shelf life. I am shooting more film these days, but still nowhere near the quantity to really use 10 rolls in a month or so, after which shelf life looks like it becomes a bit sketchy.

I have had good luck with fp4 and hc110. I have a half bottle of rodinal but just don't get around to using it. Equally a half bottle of hc110 that I occassionally use but usually just d76. What is the old saying...horse for courses? But yeah, fp4+ has grain and rodinal will definitely show that. I do use rodinal with TMX and have had good success but tmx is virtually grainless
Yeah, Rodinal and Tmax is just gorgeous. I don't mind the grain so much on fp4, but it's the way the contrast manifests...the midtones and highlights just sort of blend together. I'd rather use Tri-X and get that punchier clarity andnextra film speed. But I will probably try another roll with hc110 just to see what that looks like.
