- Last summer I brought my M6 and Collapsible Summicron, along with a bunch of Kodak Tmax 400 for a four week trip to the Arctic aboard the light icebreaker CCGS Sir Wilfrid Laurier. We left Victoria, BC early July and ended in Kugluktuk, Nunavut in early August. I'd like to share some of the shots I got over the next few posts, and I'll try to keep them in sequential order.

Post #10 - Continuing on through the Beaufort Sea off of the Tuktoyaktuk Peninsula, with a man overboard training drill thrown in for good measure

Inspired by @dourbalistar@, I picked up a 35mm adapter for my Pentax 67. Had some issues with film flatness shooting without the film mask in order to expose all the way to the edge, but a few worked out nicely.

@OregonSun, these look great! Did the mask modification resolve the film flatness issue? The tutorial I followed also recommended switching the pressure plate to the 220 setting, since 35mm film has no backing paper and is a little thinner than 120. I don't use the mask from my panoramic kit either, and so far I've been happy with the results. Probably also helps that Kentmere 400 dries nice and flat for digitizing. Mostly, it's fun and challenging to shoot such a wide aspect ratio.

Thanks! I go to the Arctic almost annually, but sailing all the way from Victoria certainly unusual. Typically we fly up & meet the ship in Barrow, however due to Covid they weren't keen on us transiting through several towns on the way up. So most likely a one time deal!

Thanks, I haven't seen the flatness issue with the modified mask. I have been using the 220 setting for the pressure plate, I'm thinking Portra 160 and 400 have some curl to them that caused the issue. Some of the shots didn't have it though, all I can think is that there is enough tension on the film to prevent it for part of the roll.

Looks great! I just bought a 35/2 from LLB and was wondering which film stock to shoot first. Glad to see it looks good in color and not just black and white.

I see your having better luck with the 220 or is this old stock (not the new stuff you were having issues with)?

13th & Final Post - Crew change day, fuel transfer to the Frosti, prep the bird for the cross shift & start shuttling people off. Then a few days later back home, sweet home on Vancouver Island, camping with my little man.

Thanks everyone

The first batch of 220 from Shanghai was an 400 ISO film. The QC on that was awful which they admitted to.
This batch is their new ISO 100 film, and it is pretty darn good!
