I posted the colour version of this picture in the main Leica images thread.
I was surprised (and delighted) to see "Eternity" written on the street preacher's makeshift rostrum. When I was a teenager I frequently encountered the word in yellow chalk on the footpath as I wandered around Sydney. It had been written by Arthur Stace (Mr Eternity), an Australian war veteran and former alcoholic who converted to Christianity in the early 1930s and continued spreading this message until he died in 1967.
