Headed to Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP in 2 days for 10 days of fun. Any must shoot places here? Tips, recs? Bringing 4 rolls ektar, 4 rolls delta, 2 rolls triX, 2 rolls Provia, 2 rolls Gold 200 and of course my dslr. My canon 7ne is coming to compliment the L lens swaps with my digi canon and then a Nikon kit, fm2n and fg20 with lenses 28 to 150 in length as well as my oly XA and XA4 as backups and a more portable option. Canon kit for c41, Nikon kit for B&W and chromes. XA and XA4 for highspeed film (triX).
Huss - When were you in Carmel. I was there three weeks ago shooting my dad's house. Let me know next time...
I found a couple of old instrument shots that I like. One a 1950 or so Fender NoCaster outfitted with a Parsons-White String Bender shot in the freezing cold in Big Sky, Mt. and the other what I believe is an old Gibson F-5 mandolin shot for a magazine cover some time in the 1980's. And one more - an old Atlantic Richfield (pre Arco) station somewhere on HWY 395 in the Mojave Desert. The last shot with a Mamiya 7, 65mm lens and Velvia.

That's a lot of gear Jon! What do you carry it all in?
I got canon outfit in a lowepro bag and the Nikon in a old soft padded canvas bag. Lol, I thought I was traveling light! Leaving Leica gear at home and leaving the nikkormat ft2 (heavy beast) Really not a whole lot, 7 lenses total. Canon: 17-40L, 24-105L and an old 100-300 USM (small and compact). I can swap lenses film and digi. B&W and chrome film will be relegated to the Nikons...all series e lenses (light and compact), 28, 35, 50 and 75-150. So when hiking will probably just take Nikons with 3 lenses (28, 50 and 75-150 though I will probably only use the 28). This will go in my Mountainsmith Cairn 2 pack along with food and water for the all day excursions. Smaller hikes will be the 7ne around the neck. Sunsets and sunrises with tripod will be shot with digi (much easier to bracket in the difficult light, blend/hdr later).

My aunt has that mandolin. Beautiful captures all around.

Went for a leisurely country drive this past Sunday and finished off a roll of delta in my Minolta srt 102 with a 50/1.7 developed in Rodinal.
Well thank you I am partial to d76 but trying to like rodinal. This batch came out fairly well. I really like rodinal though with tmax100. This was 1:50 with gentle agitation every minute after initial 30 sec gentle agitation. Patterson Tank.

You get great results with D76, whereas I don’t. I have only had one roll souped in D76 come out well, and I had to keep it at 65 degrees to do it.
When I was at Art Center way back when, we were required to use D-76, mostly for Plus-X and Tri-X and there were never any issues with that. My personal preference was always HC-110 Dilution B which isn't all that different in the end than D-76.

Just last week. I'll buzz u next time I go up in case you happen to be there too. The dogs loved the beach.
I tell ya, it is so easy to recognize that Kodachrome shot of yours as being taken on Kodachrome!
(now you better not tell me you actually shot it on E6 and mis-labelled it!)
Huss - Carmel Beach is such a great dog beach and it's almost impossible for them to get tangled with cars. I used to take our Golden, Chip there several times a week to run on the beach. Took our dog there four years ago and she had the best time chasing seagulls that she could never catch. I'll be going up in another month or so and hopefully we'll have the house sold by then.
