Previously posted on the Leica thread. Rescanned with my newly acquired Coolscan V. I have to say the Nikon Scan software is a gem. Much better than anything I have used previously, including Vuescan and Silverfast. Thought to post them here.
Been saving up my slide film until I get at least four rolls and sending it to Duane's in Kansas. They're doing a really nice job aside from shipping it back very tightly rolled. Takes days before it's flat enough to scan...
I'm done now with my 5th attempt at C41 processing and well... my results are at least consistent
Starting to think I may have a bad or old batch of this Rollei kit. Colors are generally muted and wierd, though generally fixable but that's too time consuming and not why I shoot film. At this point I'm sure my temps are spot on too. Tank is a basic Patterson and I'm inverting 3x / 45 seconds. This is the 38C development but I get the same results at 25C
Any tips / other things I'm overlooking?
Here's an average example of some fresh Portra 400, nothing like what I get from my lab.
Does your lab scan for you? If so ask them to scan the film that you developed and then you can compare to see where the difference is.
Or scan the film that they developed for you, using the same methodology as you used to scan the above.

It's s scanning issue. If you want lab-like results use silverfast software. What I do is scan in 16 bit and tweak in LR. Much more control than silverfast.
