Observation and not intended to derail this thread: The more I shoot black and white film, the more unnatural and dissatisfying it is to see B&W out of a digital sensor, even the m monochrome. Traditional emulsion has a look, a texture, a feel, a depth that is so much more gratifying to the eyes than the fake stuff. Maybe my eyes are being "retrained" to see things different. Maybe....maybe I need to continue to shoot film.
Argus C3 and Tri-X developed in HC-110, Epson V600 scan.
My father purchased the C3 new in 1956. I used it a lot in my teenage years. It still works, probably thanks to how simple it is. It not only looks like a brick, the mechanism is only slightly more complex than a brick :-)
This roll of Tri-X is the first roll of film I processed myself since 1983 or thereabouts. Forgot how much fun it is. I'll be doing more.
From a roll of portra 160, canon 7ne, 17-40L. This was from the series I posted last with the Ektar. Not ideal light (mid day with sun) however the portra handled the situations well. Really enjoy the latitude of this film.
should have taken the CPL off, caused some ghosting. The 17-40L has not ever done this for me by itself.

That first shot is a wall-hanger for sure! Nice!
Thank you! I will be printing a 13x19 tomorrow. I was having a hard time with flare due to using a CPL but this was the last frame I shot (first frame on a new roll). The sun was lower and I got closer in. The sun shrouded just a bit to keep flare down.
John, nice Portra work. You managed the light & flare pretty good!
Noticed you used the 17-40 (use to have). I always like the way it handled flare better than the 24-105
I didn't have as much success when I did some 4x5 Portra 160
From a trip to Zion a week ago. Definitely am returning to explore some more
This is from the 4x5 on Ektar. Had to double process the Tiff (from ColrNeg), using Blend If.
Since I also shot it with the A7R, had a color ref (for my eyes)
Let me know if this looks close on the color
I am still scanning the Velvia 50 shots from Antelope Canyon
Beautiful shots, Dan. Slot canyons are definitely on my bucket list. I hope to shoot them at least as well as you have.
Took a short trip out to west TX. Here's a couple from Fort Davis national park. Officers row on the back of the parade ground. I love the repeating patterns of the porches.
