Oh I still check air quality almost daily. It's a habit I cant break! I've seen how bad it is now and at that moment all my homesick feelings drain away. I'm never, ever going back to living in that kind of environment ever again. I still remember very much the weeks and weeks of home confinement.

Good god, but how does one learn SilverFast!! 3 hours into this and still no scans!
OUCH.
Tom,
I never figured it out. Ended up using Vuescan for a while.
Now I just use the Epson s/w as it's simple & effective.
When you figure out the SilverFast, I want to know how it works!
SilverFast came out of drum scanning software, so it's not exactly the most intuitive package out there. I've used it on a friend's Howtek and figured it out for him, but much prefer Trident, which is far and away the best scanning program I've used - among many, but only works on really old drum scanners. There is someone over on Luminous Landscape that has done video tutorials on SilverFast that may be of some help but I can't vouch for them. It's worth a try though.

Lynda.com has a nearly 6 hour video tutorial section on Silverfast. They give away 10 days of access free so it looks like I am going to have to sit through that to work this out. All my scans of negative film do not get inverted into positives and I can't figure out why.
Well, here are the results of nearly 4 hours of work with SilverFast. Very very slow going and this is essentially a straight-out-of-the-scanner image. Very very very basic stuff and not indicative of what the Plustek 120 is truly capable of.
Curiously I found silverfast very intuitive and easy to setup and use. I could never get along with vuescan. I must have been German in my previous life

Funny. I can get basic scans done but now that I have "mastered" that, I'm not sure how to now go deeper into this and make my scans even better. There are a zillion options in Silverfast and virtually no guidance on how to use it. Very tough to self learn in my case, but I'm trying.
