There are a zillion options in Silverfast and virtually no guidance on how to use it. Very tough to self learn in my case, but I'm trying.
The secret is to turn off all but basic settings. It's like shooting raw. You need a well balanced file with a good histogram and as correct color as possible, in 16 bit. The rest is done in Photoshop.
I could never figure out vuescan or silverfast. What I wound up doing is getting an old Powerbook so I could run the Nikon Scan software for my Coolscan 4000. It's quick and simple and the files have all been turning out great with plenty of headroom to edit in lightroom if necessary.
Found an exposed roll of TMax 100 while cleaning up. The leader was kinked, a hint that this roll might have been exposed in a Horizon 202.
Developed it in Diafine and yes, it was a roll from the Horizon (cheap alternative to Widelux and Noblex).
The roll was probably exposed 2.5 or 3.5 years ago.
Here are some bad scans, the subject is a piece of woodland called "Gespensterwald" (= "ghost forest"):

Will print some of this shots in the wet darkroom, probably just with a slim border, not the perforation. ...Show more →
Georg, I really love the second one. The sun rays play well with the stark contrast in the fallen tree. I would love to shoot here... Every shot has a story.

Got my 1st roll through the RZ67.
Found a local lab, Little Fiim Lab, almost like a coop. Great prices & they turn around C-41 while you wait!
Wow....I wish I had a shop like that around. I can't find anywhere that does C-41 anymore. How much per roll just to develop?
Great shots, especially the first one. Looks more like Portra than Ektar wth those soft pastel colors.
