Thank you, Jon. I see you use an EOS 7 too. I really like mine, though the AF isn't great. It has the nicest shutter sound of any canon camera I've used, though I broke the film door latch the other week - I have to tape it shut for now.

Well, it says on the left that you have 443 posts so you've been active at FM before. But no worries, your first post in this thread has left us all wanting more so please continue when you are able to.

I'm in the market for a film EOS camera. I've got an 85mm f/1.2 L II lens that I cant bare to sell. I used it digitally but I no longer shoot digital. I am going to start shopping around and my target cameras were EOS 1V as well as EOS 3. I'll have to look into a 7 and see how that looks.

Oh yes, lots of buying and selling over the years, but I don't think I've ever posted pictures other than gear.

I like the 7 because Fotodiox adapters for m645 to EOS work on it, but for some reason they don't with the EOS 3. I'm not sure about the IV. The shutter speed of the 7 is only 1/4000 though, so if you're shooting at f/1.2 a lot, then you're probably better with the 3 or IV. It's kind of like the difference between a Canon 6D and a 5D III with size and limited features. The AF on a 3 is much better.

Wow, that's a lot of trading you've done. In 20 years of shooting, I never once sold a piece of gear. Only with my giving up on digital photography did I finally start unloading some of the equipment that I've been stock piling. I sold off all my Canon lenses but I just can't part with the 85L. I almost always shoot medium format cameras but on occasoin use 35mm. I want to try this 85L on some nice film. Maybe after once I try this I can either commit to it better or build up the nerve to sell this beautiful lens.

I go through phases of trying gear, I guess. I'm surprised I have over 400 posts but then I realized I joined in 2004 so it's been almost 11 years, I've never really posted in the other forums, mostly lurked.

I'd love to see the 85mm L and Portra 160. I shot some wedding images last month with the 200mm f/2.8 and Portra 400 and was pleased with how they turned out. The colors were beautiful. I'd like to sell my digital gear and just shoot fillm all the time. I used to get excited after a shoot to download the pictures and edit them, now I don't enjoy it at all. I'd much rather send out the film. It's a different mindset for me. I feel like a RAW file is never done - there's always something you can or should do to improve it. When I get scans, I feel I did the work before I pressed the shutter button and the lab did the rest, and if it looks good, don't mess with it. Plus 95 percent of what I shoot is people, and Portra has lovely tones as it is.

I was into digital for a good 10 years before I realized that I was making computer files and not photographs. There's something about making *one* of an item and not infinity. You can replicate your digital files forever but there's only one negative from a film shot. To me it has far more value this way. I know most people dont feel that way or dont care about it one way other the other, but I do. I shoot for myself and my family, not paying customers so I get the luxury of having my feelings take priority.

I get it, When I developed my first b&w roll a few months ago and I hung it up and there were real negatives with real images, I was beyond excited. I felt like I had created something unique and irreplaceable. It was a good feeling.

Tom, I have the 7ne with eye control but rarely use it. The camera is super quiet and smooth. Autofocus is dated (believe same as 10d) but adequate in decent light. I like it because it is cheap, similar to my 20d that is still hanging on, and quiet. I mean almost silent shutter and film advance. Much quieter than my 5dmkii.

Spot on. I've developed hundreds and hundreds of rolls and that feeling from the first time has never left me. I just love opening up the tank and pulling film off the ree. Digital has nothing like this.

Desmolicious, very nice Rollei work. That first is fantastic! The 2nd one is no slouch either with very classic elements to it.

Thanks to many in these forums for showing off some inspirational film stuff. On a whim I decided to get back into it myself, with a fuji 645zi. Was surprised how easy film was in comparison to digital. Percentage of keepers is ridiculous with this camera, almost like cheating.

Same feeling on my part. Film makes you work harder, with more keepers as the result.
