Thank you rattymouse I really appreciate the feedback.
All from a thrift store rebel, a $149 lens, used orange filter and a roll of film. DSLR's be damned! My 5dmkii was feeling mighty lonesome on this trip.

Why did you choose orange over say red for your filter?
That is what I had with me
In reality though, not a fan of the black skies. I do like definition and I find an orange filter a good compromise. Will help darken the skies but not overly so.

Your scans look perfect - just as I was hoping mine would look too...I purchased the Plustek 120 last week and it has the severe banding problem when scanning 120 negatives - I had the same problem with Vuescan and SilverFast even when inverting the raw scan negative with the colorneg plugin.
Plustek did get back to me very quickly though to say that what I am experiencing is a hardware issue and that I should return the unit ASAP.
I had ordered the scanner with Calumet UK who said that they would replace it. Will keep the flickr thread updated with progress and how the second unit turns out - hopefully without the banding problem!
Quick update - the second unit had also the same banding issue, in fact it was even worse and had a focusing problem. I have given up on the Plustek for 120 negative film scanning and have decided to try my luck with a Coolscan 8000. Hope to have it by the weekend fingers crossed that it arrives in one piece, that it works and that I have better luck this time!
Epic shots again Jon. You print these negatives? These are seriously in need of being printed and hung on the wall! Looks like you had a fantastic trip.

Not yet. Plan on printing some of them. Lots to go through. This was just my first roll processed. 3 more to go with 2 partially exposed rolls still in the cams. Don't get me started on all the digital to cull through. Laborious to say the least.
I appreciate the feedback. Now I am going to have to order some Acros.

Ha ha....I fixed the digital problem buy culling them 100%. I parked my digital gear full time now. Only on rare occasions do I bring out the Sigma DP2M, which by nature is not a heavy shooter. Maybe at most 30-40 shots to look at.
