First time trying some Lomography Metropolis. I'm liking what I'm seeing here and think this would be great for urban shooting (Oh yeah, metropolis!)

Because I clearly have too much time on my hands...I did a quick and dirty comparison between my 35mm Summilux ASPH pre-FLE and the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.5 Nokton. Both lenses are wide open and focused using a 1.4x magnifier (couldn't be arsed to use a tripod though ).
So, what can I say? The older lux shows its age. It has lower global and micro-contrast and thus less apparent resolution. It has more blur (slightly) and the draw is a tiny bit more structured. I repeated this very informal test over a few more frames at different focus points and confirmed these findings. So, you can save $2k and get a better lens!

I did a similar test last year. I compared my pre FLE to Leica's APO. I was wondering if an APO would make a difference on film or not. Short answer was no. The surprising answer is the pre FLE held its own against the $7k APO lens, on film at least. MP + Portra 400.

Back when I was thinking of getting the Leica 50 f2 APO (used they were going for about 60% of new cost) I checked images made by it on film. And frankly could not see any difference vs regular 50 Crons outside flare control. And for that I already have CV 50 2.2 etc.
So as I couldn't see any difference it wasn't worth it for me. Maybe it would have been different if shot on digital, but who shoots digital anymore?
